Greenwood Doubles

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Luc Greenwood
Luc Greenwood

All three Greenwood brothers are in the tournament, though Sam had to purchase a reentry. Luc avoided that for now after doubling up through Ariel Mantel. Mantel had opened from under the gun, Greenwood made it 4,000 to go from the button and was then facing a four-bet to 11,400.

Greenwood shoved and the count was demanded by Mantel. The dealer did her duty and it was 40,750 to go, though Greenwood was hiding the two T-25 chips behind, and Mantel called.

Greenwood: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Mantel: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and the Canadian doubled. While the dealer shipped the pot to Greenwood, Chance Kornuth in the eight seat grabbed the all in triangle and said "I save this, I will need it," referring to his short stack. Big stack at the table is Marko Neumann.

Farrell Still Bossing Around

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Niall Farrell, EPT12 Malta champion and runner up of the France Poker Series Main Event here in Monte-Carlo a few days ago, is still among the chip leaders early on Day 2 with around three times the starting stack. He defended his big blind against Igor Yaroshevsky and check-called a bet worth 1,500 on the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds} turn.

The {10-Clubs} river was checked through and Farrell was first to show, flashing {6-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Yaroshevsky folded and the pot was shipped to the Scotsman.

Small Tidbits

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Murad Akhundov, who finished fourth in the €50,000 Single-Day High Roller a few days ago, has entered and took the seat that previously belonged to Charlie Carrel. Salman Behbehani is a new entry while Isaac Haxton, Stephen Chidwick and Patrick Bruel are quite short.

Bruel defended his big blind and checked down a board {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} until the river before folding to a bet after the last community card. Haxton bet a four-way hand on the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} turn for 4,000 and his opponents folded.

Last but not least, Rainer Kempe opened to 1,500 and Steve O'Dwyer made it 4,000 to go from one seat over. Chidwick four-bet all in for 20,875 and got through with the move as Kempe and O'Dwyer released their cards.

O'Dwyer Folds

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Quan Zhou had just taken a pot off Zvi Stern after raising the turn of a jack-high board and jumped right into the next hand along with Antonio Buonanno and Steve O'Dwyer. On the {J-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} turn, O'Dwyer bet 5,000 and Buonanno called while Zhou folded. The {3-Spades} river completed the board and now O'Dwyer checked and then folded to a bet of 13,000 by Buonanno, it was for more than one third of his remaining stack.

Buddiga Busts For Second Time

Level 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

Yang Wang raised to 1,300 from under the gun and was called by two players including Mark Teltscher in the small blind. Pratyush Buddiga then squeezed to 7,500 out of the big blind and Wang was the only caller. On the {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop both checked. The {K-Hearts} turn saw Buddiga bet for 11,000 with 24,000 behind and Wang tossed in the chips.

Once the dealer burned and turned the {4-Diamonds} river, Buddiga pushed and Wang snap-called within one second to see Buddiga table {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Wang had that dominated with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and Buddiga busted on the second bullet, Leon Tsoukernik followed shortly after, making them the first players unable to reenter the competition.

Haxton Rivers Big, Wins Small

Level 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

From first position, Isaac Haxton made it 1,200 to go. He was called by Pablo Melogno right next to him, and big blind Dmitry Yurasov.

All 3 of them checked the {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} flop and {9-Clubs} turn. The river {7-Clubs} saw Yurasov check again and Haxton now bet 2,100. Melogno called, Yurasov folded.

Haxton showed his rivered set of sevens with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Melogno quietly mucked.

8-High No Good for Simao

Level 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

Ibrahim Raouf limped in under the gun for 500, and Alexandru Papazian (cutoff), Mike McDonald (button), Anthony Spinella (small blind) and Joao Simao (big blind) all saw the flop for that amount as well.

All 5 of them checked on {K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and the {10-Spades} hit the turn. Spinella checked again and Simao bet 1,400. Just Raouf called, Papazian, McDonald and Spinella all folded.

Simao bet another 1,850 on the {A-Clubs} river. Raouf called just about instantly, and Simao admitted to have 8-high right away. Raouf showed his {6-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Simao mucked.
