Siddique Takes from Diaz

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Grzegorz Grochulski raised to 2,500, Guillaume Diaz three-bet to 8,500 and Grochulski then four-bet to 19,500 and that shut down Diaz, who elected to fold.

Soon after, Usman Siddique defended his small blind and check-called a bet worth 7,300 on the {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} turn by Diaz. Siddique checked again the {6-Diamonds} river and Diaz bet 9,000, Siddique called. Diaz flashed {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and Siddique had that beat with {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for two pair.

Panka Doubles Through Sormunen

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

2014 PCA winner Dominik Panka just scored a full double-up versus his right-hand neighbor Pasi Sormunen. The board read {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}{A-Spades} and Sormunen had bet 14,000. Panka moved all in for 60,200, which gave Sormunen a serious headache.

After mulling over his decision for two minutes, Sormunen reluctantly flicked a chip in to indicate a call. Panka showed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} for the nut flush and Sormunen mucked.

Prokudin and Buddiga Eliminated

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Alexander Prokudin and Pratyush Buddiga were among the early eliminations. Prokudin got it in good with {A-}{K-} for around 18,000 and Pierre Calamusa looked him up with {K-}{J-}, the first card on the flop was a jack.

Calamusa took down another pot against Dmitry Yurasov soon after. Calamusa raised to 2,100 from the button and Yurasov called in the big blind. On the {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop both players checked. On the {K-Diamonds} turn, Yurasov check-called a bet worth 2,000 and then check-folded the {6-Hearts} river to a bet of 6,000.

Deyra Chops; Then Doubles

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

One of the shortest stacks in the room, Ivan Deyra got it all in twice.

First, he shoved from first position with 9,000 in chips and got a call by Andrey Andreev from the big blind.

Deyra dominated his opponent with {A-Hearts}{9-Spades} against {A-Clubs}{7-Spades} but the chopped when the board ran out {2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

A couple of hands later, Deyra doubled through Andreev, who opened to 2,500 from the cutoff. Deyra moved in for 7,700 and got a call.

This time it was a race with Deyra's {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} slightly ahead of Andreev's {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. No help for from the board for Andreev and Deyra doubled up.

Metaal's Stack Ironed Out

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Govert Metaal got his last chips in before the flop holding {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. He was in excellent position to double his 20-big blind stack as he was up against {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for the charismatic Dutchman, the board ran out {Q-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and he was forced to leave the tournament area.
