Welcome to Day 1 of the EPT Prague €10,300 Pot-Limit Omaha

At 2 pm local time, the second €10,300 buy-in event of the 2018 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague gets underway as the attention switches to Pot-Limit Omaha at the Hilton Prague.

Earlier this week, Akin Tuna took down the opening €10,300 No-Limit Hold'em event of the festival after he came through a 38 player field which included a heads-up battle with Ognyan Dimov to scoop the €125,330 first-place prize.

12 months ago, Sweden's Niklas Astedt took home €81,600 for victory in this PLO event as part of the PokerStars Championship Prague, following a heads-up battle with Finland's Sampo Ryynanen.

When the action gets underway in this two-day event, each player will sit down with a 50,000 chip stack, with 14 40-minute levels scheduled for Day 1. There will be a 20-minute break at the end of level 3, 6 and 12, with a 75-minute dinner break scheduled for the end of level 8 (approximately 8 pm). Late registration will be open until the end of the dinner break, and players are allowed a single re-entry.

The 30 second shot clock will be implemented from the start of the event and each player will receive six time bank cards of 30 seconds each at the start of play.

Mezei Joins, Silver Reenters & Kaholek Departs

Roman Kaholek, who started well and improved his chip stack early on, has since lost a succession of hands and ultimately gave his remaining chips to Dany Chidiac who his out sat on 85,000.

Astedt Eliminated by Van Hoof

Three players went to a flop with the pot already escalated to a huge 75,000.

Niklas Astedt was first to ace and moved all in for around 25,000 before Jorryt van Hoof made a quick call.

"I can now reveal I did not realize there was a raise before me preflop, but I was too tilted to fold" admitted Alexander Petersen while slowly peaking at his hand before he folded.

Astedt tabled for top set with Van Hoof holding for a flush draw as well as a straight draw.

The turn gave Van Hoff the straight to take the lead, and he cemented the pot by hitting a flush on the river.

Astedt departs for the second and final time today.

Bujtas Doubles

Dany Chidiac was playing from under the gun, and a pot had brewed to 50,000 preflop between him and Laszlo Bujtas, who was in the cutoff.

The flop fell , and Chidiac moved all in for close to pot which Bujtas called.

Chidiac tabled for two pair as well as plenty of draws, with Bujtas showing .

The turn fell the to put Bujtas into an immediate lead, and the on the river secured him the pot.

Bujtas is now up to 115,000 having sat down in the event just moments ago, with Dany Chidiac who was one of the original seven reduced to 17,000.

Capitan Eliminated by Nemeth

Bogdan Capitan, on the button, and Andras Nemeth in the small blind had created a 51,000 pot preflop. On the flop, Nemeth bet pot.

Capitan moved all in for around 15,000 more, and Nemeth called.

Nemeth was ahead with a set of kings, but Capitan picked up a backdoor flush draw on the turn. The river card was no good for Capitan as Nemeth improved to a house and sent last year's third-place finisher Capitan to the rail.

Bujtas Eliminated by Vainionkulma

Arvi Vainionkulma and Laszlo Bujtas got all their chips into the middle preflop with the latter the player at risk of elimination.

Bujtas had found himself in a horrible spot with queens in his hand, with Arvi Vainionkulma holding both aces and kings.

Andras Nemeth Eliminated in 7th Place

Andras Nemeth was left with just two big blinds after his confrontation with Jorryt van Hoof a few moments ago, and he has been unable to perform a comeback.

The last of his chips were in the middle, and ultimately the Hungarian who has $2,751,722 in recorded live tournament cashes departed from the field without a spot in the money.

Six players now remain meaning we are on the money bubble.
