Next Break in Order

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

There are only 64 players remaining after short stack Remy Lubespere had been eliminated in the last hand of the level and the players headed into their next 20-minute break right after. The T-500 chips will now be raced off as they are no longer required for the remainder of the tournament.

Three More Down the Drain

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Samy Ouellani ended up all in and at risk preflop for his last 70,000 with the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and Dan Abouaf called from one seat over to reveal the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. Both players hit a pair until the {K-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} turn, but the {9-Diamonds} river was of no help for Ouellani.

Paul Newey's short stack ride came to an end when he got it in with the {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} only for Mark Demirdjian to quickly look him up with the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, the board came {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{K-Spades}{5-Diamonds} to leave Newey drawing dead on the turn already.

Florian Maurer had busted on another table to reduce the field to the last 66 players.

Gogniat Busts to Ferrero

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Thierry Gogniat was all in for very few chips on the button and was called by Olivier Ferrero in the small blind and Makoto Haga in the big blind. On the {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop, Ferrero bet and Haga called before the {4-Hearts} on the turn brought a check by Ferrero and a bet of 21,000 by Haga. Ferrero called and checked the {A-Spades} river.

Haga now bet 20,000 and Ferrero cut out a check-raise to 60,000 to force a fold. Ferrero rolled over {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and Gogniat tapped the table with a "well done" before flashing his {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
David Peters
David Peters

Big stacks David Peters and Mark Demirdjian are at the same table and build a pot of around 150,000 on a {3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} board. Peters checked to Demirdjian, who bet 58,000, and the American called it off after 25 seconds.

Demirdjian instantly mucked his hand face down and Peters collected without showing as well.

End of the Road for Voinea

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Ionut-Flavius Voinea (with Danut Chisu)
Ionut-Flavius Voinea (with Danut Chisu)

Down to his last 15 big blinds, Ionut-Flavius Voinea open-shoved from middle position. Chaofei Wang reshoved all in on the button and the blinds got out of the way.

Ionut-Flavius Voinea: {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Chaofei Wang: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The {7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flip didn't bring any help for Voinea. The {K-Clubs} on the turn paired up Wang, but the Romanian could still hit his straight. The {Q-Diamonds} on the river gave him an inferior pair instead and he was eliminated. Voinea was one of the first to receive the payjump to €11,900.

Wheeler No More After Flush Over Flush Debacle

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Philippe Narboni got his short stack in after the {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} turn and flipped over {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} only for Ekrem Sanioglu to reveal {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for trips nines. "You know me," Sanioglu said in French to his countryman. The blank {A-Hearts} river failed to improve Narboni and he was eliminated.

Wei Huang was also spotted on the rail and the seat that formerly belonged to Jason Wheeler is now empty. According to Gary Miller it was a flush over flush setup that sent Wheeler packing. According to Miller, Gary Hasson had raised and was called by [Removed:432] and Wheeler on the button.

On the {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, action checked to Wheeler and his bet of 53,000 was called by [Removed:433] only. After the {3-Diamonds} turn, [Removed:433] checked and then moved all in over the top of a bet of 52,000 by Wheeler. The American called with {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and [Removed:433] flipped over {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the nut flush to render the river card to a mere formality.

The Demirdjian Train Keeps Rolling

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Mark Demirdijan
Mark Demirdijan

There's no stopping Mark Demirdjian any time soon as the Lebanese card player has also surpassed the 1M mark. In the latest hand, Demirdjian had three-bet to 31,000 after an early position open.

Aroldo Fioroni four-bet shoved 79,000 from late position and Demirdjian wasn't going anywhere.

Aroldo Fiorini: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Mark Demirdjian: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The {A-Hearts} flopped in the window to have Fioroni's chances of survival hanging on the case nine. It didn't appear as the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and the Swiss was off to the payout desk.
