After a long day of poker that saw both Day 1a and Day 1b flight's come to their conclusion, the remaining 224 players will join together at noon tomorrow to play down to a winner.

Among the top stacks of day 1b is no one else than the Italian pro Mustapha Kanit who turned his 30,000 into 662,000 after 19 levels of 20 minutes. The tournament superstar has already racked up $11,486,708 in live winnings, including the victory of the 2015 EPT Grand Final €50,000 super high roller for €936,500 and a second place in the 2016 EPT Grand Final €100,000 No Limit Hold'em - Super High Roller for €1,462,000.

Kanit is followed by Roberto Silvani, who won the € 1,100 No Limit Hold'em - Super Hyper-Turbo event of the PokerStars Championship in 2017 here in Barcelona for € 20,300, his biggest live score, will try to continue his run tomorrow and improve his previous result.

Others in the top counts were Lars Tungel (513,000), who made the money earlier this week in the € 1,100 No Limit Hold'em Seniors 50+ (Event #10) and Almedin Imsirovic (454,000). The Belgium Bart Lybaert also emerged among the big stacks in the middle of the day and bagged a hefty 450,000

A total of 72 players bagged at the end of that night to join the remaining 152 players of Day 1a tomorrow. Many pros and familiar faces took a seat tonight and managed to survive to the turbo structure, such as the 45th World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Martin Jacobson (158,000), super high rollers regular Jean-Noel Thorel (248,00), Xia Lin (444,000), Michel Molenaar (408,000), Anthony Zinno (156,000), Erwann Pecheux (117,000), Jimmy Kebe (108,000) and the American player Jake Schwartz with a short stack of 89,000.

Kenny Hallaert, Andrea Buonocore, Johan Guilbert, Kristen Bicknell, Alex Foxen, Mihai Niste, Davidi Kitai, Benny Glaser and Chino Rheem also took their shots, but failed to make it through Monday’s restart.

PokerStars Team Pro Maria Konnikova busted one hour before the end of the day, losing her last eight big blinds with ace-ten while her opponent held a pair of fours and found a full house on the flop.

The tournament gathered a total field of 1,491 entries to create a nice prizepool of €2,892,540.

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Adrian Mateos open-shoved his remaining stack of 12,500 and found Leonardo Patacconi in the blinds who made the call to create the following showdown:

Adrian Mateos: {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Leonardo Patacconi: {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The flop appeared {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{a-Diamonds}, giving a straight draw to Patacconi but the rest of the board fell {2-Diamonds} and {a-Hearts} and Mateos's hand held with jack-high to give him the double up.

A player pushed his last 14,000 in the middle and Maria Konnikova, who took a seat moments ago, reshoved from the hijack. The rest of the players folded to create the following showdown:

Maria Konnikova: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Her opponent: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Konnikova's opponent was in desperate shape for a double up and found no help throughout the board {5-Spades}{j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, improving Konnikova's hand into a full house.

Day 1b of the €2,200 EPT National High Roller Kicks Off at 7 p.m.

At 7 pm local time, Day 1b of the €2,200 EPT National High Roller gets underway as the players gather for their final opportunity to qualify for tomorrow's Day 2.

Last year, Tuomo Niskanen emerged as champion out of a 1,527-entry strong field, making a deal with Brian Kaufman to claim the trophy and €368,925 after a deal was made, guaranteeing Kaufman a nice €432,135 payday. The prize pool reached €2,962,380 and a similarly monstrous turnout and prize pool is expected again this year.

The 2019 PokerStars European Tour Barcelona event will follow the format of the EPT National but with 20-minutes levels and a break after every six levels. This is a freezeout event and play will finish when 15% of the field remains, with all the players being in the money.

Players get 30,000 in starting chips at blinds of just 100/100 to start, leaving some space for action. The survivors from both fields will be reunited on Monday, August 26 at noon and play down until a new champion is crowned.
