Jorden Verbraeken Eliminated in 19th Place (€32,150)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Viktor Katzenberger limped the small blind and Jorden Verbraeken moved all in for 745,000, the instant call of Katzenberger followed in a heartbeat.

Jorden Verbraeken: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Viktor Katzenberger: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board of {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} ensured that the kicker played and Verbraeken was eliminated in 19th place for €32,150.

Karoly Odor Eliminated in 20th Place (€32,150)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Karoly Odor and Rustam Hajiyev
Karoly Odor and Rustam Hajiyev

Karoly Odor moved all in for the last 335,000 and Rustam Hajiyev from one seat over inquired "can I have a count, please?" before moving all in over the top. That forced out all remaining players at the table to set up the following showdown.

Karoly Odor: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Rustam Hajiyev: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Odor flopped an ace on {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} to send Hajiyev into a world of pain, but that dramatically changed with the {k-Clubs} as Hajiyev fist-pumped. Odor was drawing dead already and hit a meaningless two pair with the {9-Hearts} to bow out in 20th place for €32,150.

"You should have seen your face on the turn," Melika Razavi said with a smile on the face.

Evy Widvey Kvilhaug Turning €55 into a Lot More in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Evy Kvilhaug
Evy Kvilhaug

Evy Widvey Kvilhaug is having the run of her life in the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour €5,300 EPT Main Event after qualifying for just €55 online at PokerStars. From that feeder satellite, she got into a €530 direct qualifier which she nearly bubbled.

“It was so exciting in the end there. So I barely made it and I think it took me a couple of days before I understood what I really won. It’s been crazy.”

Widvey came in with very little expectations as a small-stakes online player with $9,000 in cashes on her Hendon Mob.

“I knew it was going to be a lot of good players so I just thought, let’s go for the experience, it’s going to be fun to say ‘I played in an EPT once.’ Now I can say I played in an EPT once and I cashed!’”

James Romero Eliminated in 21st Place (€27,680)

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
James Romero
James Romero

Over on the outer tables, Viktor Katzenberger raised on the button and quickly called the shove of James Romero in the big blind for what appeared to be 445,000.

James Romero: {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Viktor Katzenberger: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop gave Romero some further outs, but he was immediately drawing dead on the {9-Hearts} turn to make the {8-Spades} river a formality. Romero was eliminated in 21st place and takes home €27,680 for his efforts, all remaining 20 contenders have €32,150 locked up.

Mikalai Vaskaboinikau Eliminated in 22nd Place (€27,680)

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Mikalai Vaskaboinikau
Mikalai Vaskaboinikau

Right after losing a player on the feature table, Mikalai Vaskaboinikau joined Evy Kvilhaug on the rail after busting in the very next hand.

He had opened with {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and Ryan Riess three-bet all in with {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. It was a call from Vaskaboinikau and he was the underdog with Riess just covering him in chips.

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} which was no help to Vaskaboinikau and he finished in 22nd.

Evy Kvilhaug Eliminated in 23rd Place (€27,680)

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Evy Kvilhaug
Evy Kvilhaug

After an incredible start to the day, eliminating three opponents in the first three hands, Evy Kvilhaug has failed to maintain the momentum she began with and has just hit the rail.

Following a series of unfortunate hands (as acknowledged by Sam Greenwood), Kvilhaug got the last of her chips in with {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs} blind v blind against chip leader Manig Loeser. It was 475,000 in total to call for Loeser and he did just that, having woken up with {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} in the hole.

Loeser connected with the {q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{j-Hearts} flop and Kvilhaug couldn't turn it around on the {5-Spades} turn or the {j-Diamonds} river and she made her way away from the stage, whilst Loeser extended his lead.

Wei Huang raised to 65,000 from early position, Fady Kamar three-bet shoved 385,000 on the button and Huang called.

Fady Kamar: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Wei Huang: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The tens held up on a {j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades} board and Huang's meteoric rise continued while Kamar walked off in 24th place.

Loeser Collides with Chouity to Create a New Chip Leader

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Manig Loeser
Manig Loeser

Nicolas Chouity raised from middle position with {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Manig Loeser defended his big blind with {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Loeser check-called a bet of 60,000 from Chouity on the {q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} flop.

Then a {6-Diamonds} dropped on the turn, simultaneously giving Chouity second set but Loser the nuts with a straight. Loser checked and when Chouity bet 130,000, the German used a time bank card before raising big, for 600,000 total. Chouity also used a card and called.

With no pair on the {j-Diamonds} river, Loeser still had the best hand, albeit not the nuts with a flush possibility. With 1,430,000 in the pot, Loeser used another time bank card and bet 670,000 more. Chouity didn't appear to like the situation but made the call and the former EPT Champion took a massive hit, with 40 big blinds left in front after that hand.

Loeser Finishes Michaelis Off In Style

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

Manig Loeser defended his big blind against a Paul Michaelis button raise and both players checked the {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop. On the {j-Spades} turn, Loeser checked, Michaelis bet 40,000, Loeser check-raised to 120,000, and Michaelis called.

The river brought the {k-Hearts} and Loeser shoved all in. Michaelis instantly called it off for his last 270,000 with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. Unfortunately for the 2018 EPT Prague champ, Loeser rolled over {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for quad jacks to send Michaelis to the payout desk in 25th place.

The remaining 24 players didn't do a redraw, as one was performed at the end of the previous day, and instead, one of the outer tables was broken.

Ambrose Travers Keeps The Poker Party Going

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Ambrose Travers
Ambrose Travers

Three months ago Ambrose Travers was in the Bahamas. He and a group of friends were there to cheer on Darren Millar as the latter lived out his Platinum Pass dream in the PSPC. It was such a good time that nobody wanted the party to end.

Now Travers is playing on Day 4 of the EPT Monte Carlo event, where he is one of just 30 players remaining. It’s something of a sequel to the PSPC festivities: while Travers battles with Sam Greenwood and Nicolas Chouity on the TV table, Millar and some of the same friends that cheered him on are here rooting for Travers.

“They’re the best friends in the world, they are,” he told PokerStars Blog this afternoon. “Darren did so well in the Bahamas, we couldn’t wait to get back home to get to the next tournament. PokerStars ran such a marvelous party there, we says, ‘What’s the next big event?’ The next big event was this one.”

So he jumped into a €5.50 satellite. Six hours later, after winning that first satellite and then the €55 and €530 qualifiers that it fed into, he’d earned himself a package to play in Monte Carlo.
