Nicolas Chouity Eliminated in 16th Place (€36,620)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Nicolas Chouity
Nicolas Chouity

Manig Loeser opened to 60,000 in middle position and Nicolas Chouity defended in the big blind. On the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop, Chouity got the rest of his short stack in and was quickly called by Loeser.

Nicolas Chouity: {7-Spades}{3-Spades}
Manig Loeser: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Neither the {a-Hearts} turn nor the {q-Clubs} river helped Chouity, who bowed out in 16th place for €36,620. This also ensures that a new EPT Main Event champion will be crowned here in Monte-Carlo.

Greenwood Doubles Through Katzenberger

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Sam Greenwood raised to 90,000 from the hijack with {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and got calls from Manig Loeser with {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} on the button and Viktor Katzenberger with {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} in the big blind.

The {2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop got checked around. Things heated up on the {6-Diamonds} turn, which gave Katzenberger an up and down straight draw to add to his top pair. He led for 140,000, Greenwood raised to 380,000, and Loeser folded. Katzenberger burned through two time bank cards before moving all in, and Greenwood called.

Greenwood was at risk but had the best of it. The {6-Hearts} river paired the board, safe for the Canadian, and he doubled up.

Govert Metaal Eliminated in 15th Place (€41,090)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Manig Loeser shoved all in from the small blind and Govert Metaal called all in from the big blind for 730,000.

Govert Metaal: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Manig Loeser: {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}

They were off to the races and Loeser nipped into the lead when it came {6-Spades}{a-Hearts}{7-Spades} on the flop. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and a set for Loeser meant the end for Metaal, rendering the {10-Diamonds} river irrelevant.

Bruno Volkmann Eliminated in 14th Place (€41,090)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Bruno Volkmann
Bruno Volkmann

Bruno Volkmann has just been moved to the feature table and posted the big blind. Sam Greenwood opened to 80,000 in middle position with {q-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Volkmann called with {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} in the big blind.

Greenwood flopped trips on {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and bet 40,000. Volkmann check-raised to 140,000 with the airball and Greenwood called. Volkmann picked up equity on the {2-Clubs} turn shoved it in for 505,000, slightly more than the size of the pot. Greenwood snap-called the shove.

The {4-Spades} on the river saw the end to Volkmann's hopes as he hit the rail.

Aladin Reskallah Eliminated in 13th Place (€45,570)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Aladin Reskallah
Aladin Reskallah

In the final hand before the dinner break, Conor Beresford raised to 80,000 from middle position, Nicola Grieco called in the cutoff, and Aladin Reskallah defended his big blind. The {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop got checked to Grieco, who bet 125,000. Reskallah called and Beresford folded.

On the {3-Clubs} turn, things suddenly exploded. Reskallah checked, Grieco quickly bet 150,000, Reskallah check-raised all in for 1,065,000 and Grieco beat him to the pot with a call.

Aladin Reskallah: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Nicola Grieco: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

A primal cheer erupted from Grieco's mouth once he saw Reskallah's hand. The Italian nearly smashed his superior flush through the table in excitement. He then tried to run into the stands in celebration but the brush quickly put a stop to that. He returned just in time to see the irrelevant {k-Spades} complete the board, leaving the tournament with twelve players into the dinner break.

How a Young Kristen Bicknell Would Sneakily Play Poker

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Two time GPI Female Poker Player of the Year Kristen Bicknell wasn't always a well-known professional poker player. Her now very supportive parents weren't as supportive when they first caught their 18 year old daughter playing online poker. Did that discourage Bicknell? Nope. Bicknell considers what her next goals are in poker and how to keep improving her game.

Sam Greenwood Eliminated in 12th Place (€45,570)

Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Right off the back of the last hand, which ended in a bad beat for Sam Greenwood, he found {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} under the gun and limped in. Wei Huang picked up {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and raised to 250,000. Everyone else got out of the way and Greenwood stuck it in for 370,000 total, which Huang called.

The flop {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} kept Greenwood ahead, and the {9-Hearts} turn meant just six outs for the Canadian to dodge. The river card was one of those cards, the {a-Spades}, and Greenwood left the stage in 12th place.

Conor Beresford Eliminated in 11th Place (€50,930)

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Conor Beresford
Conor Beresford

Left short after the earlier clash with Timothy Adams, Conor Beresford shoved all in for 365,000 in middle position. Nicola Grieco wasted no time in calling it off on the button, ready to finish off his nemesis of the day. The blinds got out of the way to get to showdown.

Conor Beresford: {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Nicola Grieco: {q-Spades}{j-Clubs}

The {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop paired both players and put Grieco in the lead. Beresford improved to two pair on the {k-Clubs} turn but Grieco picked up a straight draw to go along with his jacks to win. The river was the {a-Hearts} and Grieco completed his straight to knock out Beresford in 11th place.

"Ciao! Hello Pinocchio!" the animated Italian yelled while he jolted from his seat in excitement. Beresford accepted his defeat with a smile and made his way to the payout desk to collect €50,930.

Wiktor Malinowski Eliminated in 10th Place (€50,930)

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Wiktor Malinowski
Wiktor Malinowski

Wiktor Malinowski raised on the cutoff and Nicola Grieco moved all in from the button, which Malinowski quickly called for the last 685,000.

Wiktor Malinowski: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Nicola Grieco: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Malinowski was the shortest stacking coming back from the break and fell behind on the {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop. The {4-Spades} turn and the {8-Diamonds} river failed to change the outcome of the hand and Malinowski had to settle for 10th place and a payday of €50,930. All remaining nine players will now redraw to the unofficial final table.
