Katzenberger Climbing

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Vlado Banicevic opened to 7,000 in early position and action folded around to Pavel Plesuv, who called from the small blind. Viktor Katzenberger was next to act in the big blind and three-bet to 28,000. Banicevic found action back on him and needed to use a time extension to consider his decision before settling on a call. Plesuv also called and all three players went to the streets.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and both Plesuv and Katzenberger checked. Banicevic made a bet of 27,000, prompting a fold from Plesuv and a call from Katzenberger. Action was then heads up and checked through the turn {2-Clubs} and river {k-Hearts} to take the hand to showdown.

Katzenberger tabled {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for two pair, kings and jacks, and Banicevic tapped the felt to acknowledge a nice hand before sending his own two cards to the muck. With the pot, Katzenberger now finds himself with a stack of 450,000, making him one of the largest in the room with Level 13 soon coming to a close.

His opponent was Uri Reichenstein, and it appeared from the pot that the pair had both put in 15,000 on the flop and 51,000 on the turn.

Reichenstein raised all in for around 200,000 and Geilich used two time extensions before folding.

Anatoly Filatov and Matthias Eibinger were seated at neighbouring tables.

"We have a seat for you," Filatov called over to Eibinger.

"How many chips?" asked Eibinger.

"Around 320k," said Filatov. "Why you ask?"

"We are still both in," replied Eibinger. "It's good."

Dvoress Takes a Hit

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Viktor Katzenberger raised it up in the hijack and was called by Vlado Banicevic on the button. Daniel Dvoress stuck in a three-bet to 27,000 from the small blind and Katzenberger just called. Banicevic decided to shove all in for 93,000 and Dvoress came over the top for 154,000 which got Katzenberger to fold.

Vlado Banicevic: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Daniel Dvoress: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

While Dvoress held a commanding lead, the flop of {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} turned the tide as Banicevic spiked an ace. The {6-Clubs} on the turn and the {6-Spades} on the river secured the double up for Banicevic.

Filatov Gets Riess

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Anatoly Filatov was in middle position and opened the action with a raise to 7,000. Action made its way around to Ryan Riess, who three-bet for the majority of his stack out of the big blind. Filatov announced he was all in and Riess committed what was left.

Anatoly Filatov: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Ryan Riess: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The two remarked about their hands, with Filatov mentioning that Riess had won the last two all-ins the two had in their history amongst one another. The flop came {9-Spades}{2-Hearts}{a-Hearts} to give Filatov top set, resulting in him remarking that he liked his chances much better in the current hand. The turn {2-Clubs} and river {k-Hearts} completed the runout, giving Filatov aces full along the way as Riess was eliminated from the tournament.

"Good luck, guys," added Riess as he made his way from the tournament area.

Khatri Nears a Quarter-Million

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Maxim Panyak opened to 8,000 from the hijack and action folded around to Bhavin Khatri, who defended his big blind. The flop came {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Khatri checked to Panyak, who made a continuation-bet of 10,500. Khatri called.

Both players checked the turn {7-Spades} and river {5-Spades} to take the hand to showdown, and Khatri tabled {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for aces up. Panyak was unable to beat it and sent his cards to the muck, resulting in the small pot going to Khatri, who now finds himself with just shy of a quarter-million after enjoying what has appeared to be a good last hour-plus of play for him.
