Tang Doubles Through Jukovic To Leave Him Short

Level 17 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Danny Tang
Danny Tang

Danny Tang raised it up to 50,000 under the gun and action made its way around to Mustafa Jukovic, who defended his big blind. The two saw the flop come {4-Clubs}{a-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Jukovic led out with a bet of 55,000, which Tang called.

The turn came {k-Hearts} and Jukovic checked. Tang fired out about 83,000 and Jukovic immediately announced a check-raise all in. Tang beat him into the pot with his calling chips, much to Jukovic's chagrin.

"You have the ace, don't you?" asked Jukovic. Tang tabled his hand to confirm but Jukovic already knew he was in trouble.

Danny Tang: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Mustafa Jukovic: {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Tang found himself getting all of his chips into the middle on the turn already having Jukovic drawing dead to secure the double as the river {2-Diamonds} completed the runout, bringing Tang near an average stack and leaving Jukovic with just over five big blinds left with which to play for the time being.

Joris Ruijs Eliminated in 9th Place (€45,960)

Level 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Joris Ruijs
Joris Ruijs

Joris Ruijs shoved all in for 314,000 from under the gun and Danny Tang used up a time extension from middle position before laying his hand down. Jans Arends was in the small blind and made the call without any extra time needed.

Jans Arends: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Joris Ruijs: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The flop fell {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Arends was still out front with his pocket queens. The {9-Diamonds} on the turn and the {9-Hearts} on the river couldn't save Ruijs who was forced to settle for a min-cash.

Ruijs Doubles, Schemion Eliminated on the Bubble

Level 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

Jans Arends shipped all in from under the gun as the big stack and Joris Ruijs called off his stack of 142,000 from the big blind. They waited for the action to unfold at the other table before the cards were eventually tabled.

Joris Ruijs: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Jans Arends: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The flop of {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} put Arends in the lead but the {k-Hearts} on the turn gave Ruijs a straight. The river was the {4-Hearts} and Ruijs doubled up.

At the other table, Ole Schemion raised to 55,000 on the button and Steve O'Dwyer three-bet to 175,000 in the small blind. Schemion four-bet shipped all in for 890,000 and O'Dwyer asked for a count before making the call.

Steve O'Dwyer: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Ole Schemion: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

It was another coin flip and the pocket tens came out victorious again on the {j-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} runout. Unfortunately for Schemion, he was the casualty of a big cooler and was eliminated on the money bubble.

Lim Won't Go Back-to-Back

Level 15 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Chin Wei Lim
Chin Wei Lim

Ole Schemion raised it up to 35,000 on the button and Chin Wei Lim defended from the big blind. The flop came {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Lim checked to Schemion who made a large bet of 92,000. Lim used a time extension before check-raising all in for 347,000. Schemion called and the cards were on their backs.

Ole Schemion: {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Chin Wei Lim: {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Lim currently had the best hand but Schemion flopped a combo draw. The {k-Spades} on the turn was a brick but the {10-Diamonds} on the river gave Schemion a flush and the best hand. Lim, who won the previous €25,000 Single-Day High Roller, will not be winning another one today.

Greenwood Finds a Miracle Double

Level 14 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Danny Tang was in early position and opened to 25,000. Action folded around to Sam Greenwood, who three-bet to 60,000 in the cutoff. Robbie Toan was next to act on the button and cold four-bet to 125,000, prompting a fold from Tang. The cards hit the felt at an angle and flipped over with {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} exposed for a brief second. While the dealer was scooping up Tang's hand, Greenwood quickly announced he was all in and Toan immediately called.

"I didn't mean to," said Tang to the dealer during the commotion, but the table was clearly focused on the kings-versus-aces showdown. Greenwood had one card left in the deck to help him, but he didn't know it.

"What did you fold?" Greenwood asked Tang.

"Nothing," responded Tang, not looking to escalate the situation any further.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Toan was standing up confident about the prospects of winning a huge all-in situation. However, the turn rolled off {k-Spades}, the final king in the deck.

"That's a one outer!" said somebody from the table, and the river came {4-Spades} to leave Greenwood's' set of kings on top of Toan's cracked aces and Greenwood announced a stack of 239,000, which the dealer confirmed before squaring up stacks as the tournament went on break.

Once the hand was over, Tang confirmed to Greenwood what he had: "I folded king-ten," he said and the tournament area cleared out for what was left of the break.

Pardo Loses To Tang's Flopped Nuts

Level 13 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Danny Tang was in the hijack and opened to 20,000, prompting a three-bet all in by Juan Pardo in the cutoff for the last of his chips. Action made its way back to Tang and he quickly called.

Juan Pardo: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Danny Tang: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

"The nuts!" said Tang as he rolled over his hand. The foreshadowing was real: the flop came {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts} to give Tang the flopped nut straight, leaving Pardo in need of running cards to stay alive. The turn came {9-Diamonds}, giving Paro four direct outs to a full house on the river. Unfortunately for him, none would come as the river fell {2-Diamonds} to complete the runout and leave Pardo dry on chips as Tang scooped up the pot to bring him to 281,000.

Mateos Eliminated by Jukovic

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Mustafa Jukovic opened to 12,000 in early position and action folded around to Jans Arends, who was on the button and called. Adrian Mateos was in the big blind and went all in for 28,000, and both players called to take any future action to a side pot.

The flop came {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Jukovic bet 30,000 and Arends folded, paving the way for hands to be tabled.

Adrian Mateos: {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Mustafa Jukovic: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

Mateos needed to hit a king or jack to stay alive, but instead the board ran out with a turn {5-Spades} and river {3-Diamonds}, putting a six-high straight on board. Jukovic's sevens meant his straight was one notch higher, eliminating Mateos from the tournament as a result.

Simon Pedersen
Simon Pedersen

A completed board of {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Hearts} was spread across the table with Steve O'Dwyer and Simon Pedersen heads-up in a pot. Pedersen led out for 60,000 into a pot of just under 100,000 and O'Dwyer used up a time extension before shoving all in.

Pedersen was put to the test for his stack of around 265,000 and he eventually made the call. O'Dwyer turned over {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a rivered flush while Pedersen was forced to show his {j-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Ben Heath
Ben Heath

If January is a time for resolutions, then December is a time for reflection.

There’s a lot for British pro Ben Heath to reflect on from 2019. He won his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet (in a $50K High Roller, no less) for $1.48 million, and followed up that victory a month or so later with a third-place finish in a £100K buy-in Triton event for £1.35 million.

Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Jean-Noel Thorel was on his fourth bullet of the tournament and was sitting on a stack of 65,000. Timothy Adams raised to 10,000 from under the gun and Thorel moved all in on the button. Adams asked for a count and then made the call.

Timothy Adams: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Jean-Noel Thorel: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The flop of {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{2-Clubs} gave Adams a few more outs and the {10-Diamonds} on the turn made him a straight. Thorel was left drawing dead to the {9-Clubs} on the river and he said bye to his fellow tablemates before exiting the tournament area.
