Richez Hits a Half-Million

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Thomas Boivin went all in from early position and was called by Clement Richez who was in the cutoff. The remaining players folded and the dealer announced for both hands to be tabled for the all-in situation's pending runout.

Thomas Boivin: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Clement Richez: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

The flop came {8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, giving Boivin a couple of backdoor opportunities. However, the turn {10-Spades} took them all away to leave him with just three outs, none of which would hit as the river {10-Hearts} paired the board and resulted in his elimination from the tournament. Meanwhile, Richez now finds himself with 505,000 and is one of the larger stacks in the room with the tournament clock reading 176 remaining players, just 33 eliminations away from the point that marks the end of the evening and reaching the money.

Fernandes Finds Small Value on River

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Manuel Fernandes opened to 9,000 in the hijack and was called by Jinho Hong, who was in the cutoff. The remaining players in the hand folded and action went heads up to a flop of {8-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}. Both players checked.

The turn came {10-Spades} and Fernandes bet 15,000. Hong thought for about 40 seconds and then called.

The river fell {9-Hearts} and Fernandes fired out another 15,000. Hong went into the tank for around three minutes, at which point Fernandes called for a clock. The floor was there right away and Hong quickly dropped a chip in to call before the floor could even ask the dealer if he had had enough time to act.

Fernandes tabled {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Hong sat there for a moment, tapping the felt twice in a slow and deliberate fashion before sending his cards to the muck. The pot was sent to Fernandes and Hong shook his head a little bit right as Fernandes finished stacking his chips. Fernandes reached over and tapped Hong's arm in a manner that said he sympathized with him, which was warmly received by Hong despite having just the lost pot.

Bosch Doubles Through Martini

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

An all in and call were overheard as Oliver Bosch had shoved the last of his chips in from early position and received action from Julien Martini in the small blind.

Oliver Bosch: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Julien Martini: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Bosch needed a safe runout to stay alive and got just that as board came {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} to score him the double at Martini's expense. Martini asked if it was 75,000 after losing the hand and the dealer told him the total was 67,000, which he paid off before getting ready for the next hand to begin.

Break

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The remaining 216 players were sent on a 20-minute break. They will continue with blinds at 2,000/4,000 with a big blind ante of 4,000. There will only be room for 143 players on Day 2 so another 73 have to be eliminated before they bag up.

Kavoukis Gets There on the River

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

It folded to Kristen Bicknell on the button and she raised to 7,000. She was called by both Eleftherios Kavoukis from the small blind and Rafael Dahan from the big blind.

The flop was dealt {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and it checked to Bicknell who continued with a bet of 8,000. She wasn't able to shake either of the players she was up against as both called.

The turn was the {j-Spades} and Kavoukis checked. Dahan took over the betting initiative with a bet of 13,000 and Bicknell folded her hand after a minute. Kavoukis asked his neighbor if he liked the jack before he called.

The river was the {q-Clubs} and both players left in the hand quickly checked. Dahan showed {j-Diamonds}{4-Spades} but that wasn't enough against the {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} of Kavoukis who raked in the pot.

Wiecek Forces Out Bergstrom

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Piotr Wiecek opened to 6,500 under the gun and action folded around to Anton Bergstrom, who three-bet to 17,000 out of the cutoff. Action made its way back to Wiecek and he asked Bergstrom how much he was playing.

"Eighty-seven, including this," Bergstrom said as he pointed to the 17,000 that was on the table. Wiecek asked for confirmation and Bergstrom provided it. Wiecek called.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Wiecek checked. Bergstom put out a continuation-bet of 11,000 and Wiecek thought for about a half-minute before making the call. Both players then checked the turn {k-Diamonds} to bring the river {4-Hearts} on board, where Wiecek was first to act and again asked Bergstrom how much he had in front of him.

"Sixty now," said Bergstrom. Wiecek slid out 65,000 and Bergstrom thought for a couple of seconds shy of a full minute before sending his cards to the muck.
