Hvam Busts Velvelt in Setup Hand

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Morten_Hvam
Morten_Hvam

Urmo Velvelt was one of the 19 Day 2 entries and had run up his stack to more than 150,000. All that just came to a crashing end when he clashed with Morten Hvam. The latter had been the initial raiser and Velvelt three-bet the button to 16,500. Hvam four-bet to 42,000 and snap-called the shove of Velvelt.

Urmo Velvelt: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Morten Hvam: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

The board came {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and the aces held up to send Velvelt to the rail.

Im Goes Runner-Runner Against Lybaert

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Vivian Im raised with the {a-Spades}{10-Spades} over on the feature table and was called two ways including big stack Bart Lybaert with the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Lybaert flopped a set on {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and just called a continuation bet of 6,000 by Im, who then made it 13,000 to go on the {6-Diamonds} turn. Again Lybaert just called and Im then hit the {9-Hearts} river for her straight.

She bet 37,000 with very few chips behind and Lybaert folded his set.

Burban Finished By Mateos

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Pierrick Burban went all in for his last 5,000 in the hijack and action made its way around to Adrian Mateos, who called from the big blind.

Pierrick Burban: {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Adrian Mateos: {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

It appeared as if Burban was going to get a double until the board ran out {j-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, giving Mateos a backdoor straight that sent Burban to the rail.

"It's okay," he said with a smile as he left the tournament area.

Borlan Busts Klatt and Guerrero

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jimmy Guerrero
Jimmy Guerrero

Andreas Klatt had been all in for 23,500 out of the small blind already and Jimmy Guerrero in late position called. Dan Serban Borlan on the button now moved all in and Guerrero almost immediately asked if he was covered. Some small talk followed and Guerrero eventually called.

Andreas Klatt: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Jimmy Guerrero: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Dan Serban Borlan: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop changed nothing yet but the {a-Clubs} turn improved Borlan to a pair of aces, the {3-Diamonds} river officially secured the double knockout.

After the hand was over, Borlan said "I wasn't expecting kings after all that."

Going Fishing

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Anton Suarez opened to 4,500 from under the gun and received a call from his direct left. Action folded around to the small blind, who called, to put action onto Giuseppe Carbone in the big blind.

"Going fishing," said Carbone as he made the call to take postflop action four ways. The flop came {2-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and action checked to Carbone, who made a continuation-bet of 6,500, getting a call and a fold before action was back on Carbone. Carbone reached for chips and check-raised to 17,000, getting a fold from Suarez and a call from the last player left in the hand.

Action then went heads up to the turn {a-Diamonds}, and both players checked to bring the river {k-Diamonds}. Carbone fired out 25,000 and was promptly called.

Carbone tabled {j-Spades}{6-Clubs} for trip jacks.

"Jacks!" said Carbone enthusiastically with some oomph. His enthusiasm turned to a chuckle: "See? I told you I was going fishing!" he added and raked in the pot.
