While the PokerStars European Poker Tour is best known for its big no-limit hold'em events, one advantage of the first EPT Online is that other formats can get a bit more shine. One such event is set to start here in less than an hour: EPT Online 09: $5,200 8-Game [High Roller]. This one carries a guarantee of $250,000.

The 8-game events have a rich history on PokerStars under the World Championship of Online Poker and Spring Championship of Online Poker banners, and now they'll take stage under the historic EPT brand.

For the uninitiated, the mix will be as follows: limit 2-7 triple draw, limit hold'em, limit Omaha hi-lo, razz, stud, stud hi-lo, no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha, in that order.

Players will be sat six-handed and begin with 100,000 in starting chips. Those who see a hand in the first six minutes will start at 800/1,600 limits. Level lengths go up to eight minutes at Level 17 (3,500/7,000) and then eventually 10 minutes, then maxing out at 12. Those running dry on chips can reenter up to three times during the first four hours.

Thus far, just one brave soul has registered: Joao "Naza114" Vieira awaits his competition.

The event will stretch across two days, with all of your coverage needs right here on PokerNews.

Four Bets, Three Ways

800/1,600 2-7 Triple Draw

"donthnrmepls" opened on the button, "BADEXTASY" three-bet in the small blind and "aleksandrs10" cold four-bet. The others called and drew two, while aleksandrs10 drew one. They kept the lead and their opponents called. Draws repeated and action nearly repeated, until BADEXTASY put in a check-raise. aleksandrs10 called while donthnrmepls took the opportunity to bow out.

BADEXTASY patted and bet the end after aleksandrs10 drew, and the latter called with a winning {8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{2-} against {8-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-}.

Scary Boards Battle

1,250/2,500 Stud

Christian "Crisper" Pereira opened under the gun with the {k-Diamonds} and got three-bet right away by Dimitri "MITS 304" Michaelides with the {a-Hearts}. Michaelides kept the lead up to seventh as both players four-flushed on board.

Michaelides: {x-}{x-}/{a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}/{x-}
Pereira: {x-}{x-}/{k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}/{x-}

Finally, Michaelides checked and Pereira rapped it back, showing {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for a king-high flush that was good.

Lakemeier Chopped Up

1,250/2,500 Stud Hi-Lo

FAL1st: {x-}{x-}/{a-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Strebkov: {x-}{x-}/{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Lakemeier: {x-}{x-}/{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{k-Clubs}

FAL1st led out, Strebkov raised, Lakemeier called, FAL1st reraised and Strebkov capped it. Strebkov bet again on sixth and seventh.

FAL1st: {x-}{x-}/{a-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Spades}/{x-}
Strebkov: {x-}{x-}/{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts}/{x-}
Lakemeier: {x-}{x-}/{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}/{x-}

Lakemeier folded but FAL1st called with {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts} to take half against Strekov's rolled up fives.

Eight-Six No Good for Vieira

1,750/3,500 2-7 Triple Draw

Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski opened on the button and was called by both blinds. Everyone threw away two and Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi came out betting. Joao "Naza114" Vieira raised, Dzivielevski reraised, Shakerchi folded, and Vieira called. Both players drew one and Vieira check-raised. Dzivielevski called and drew one final card after Vieira patted.

Vieira bet the end and got called, showing {8-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}, but it wasn't good as Dzivielevski had made {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

Zaichenko Gets Value from a Nine

2,000/4,000 Razz

Andrey "Kroko-dill" Zaichenko completed with one player left to act on a {6-}, and that player was Shawn "buck21" Buchanan, who raised with a {4-}. Both players caught queens so Buchanan kept the betting lead, but Zaichenko bet every street after that when he caught better than his opponent.

Zaichenko: {a-}{9-}/{6-}{q-}{3-}{j-}/{2-}
Buchanan: {x-}{x-}/{4-}{q-}{9-}{k-}/{x-}

Buchanan was unable to find a fold and paid off a nine-low.
