Boghean Leads Nine-Handed Final Table in EPT Online Event #10 $25,000 Super High Roller

Level 23 : 35,000/70,000, 8,750 ante
Andrei Boghean
Andrei Boghean

The nine-handed final table in the most expensive tournament of the 2020 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Online festival is set and the money bubble has burst to ensure each of the remaining contenders in EPT Online 10: $25,000 NLHE [8-Max, Super High Roller] a slice of the $2,000,000 prize pool. The event drew a total of 81 entries to all but cover the guarantee and Andrei "ragAAAila19" Boghean leads the pack with nearly two times as many chips as the nearest follower.

Boghean started his rise to the top of the leaderboard on the final three tables and subsequently sent several opponents to the rail to claim 5,538,837 to his name. Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph sits in second place with 2,794,731, a position he also held one day ago when he eventually finished 3rd in EPT Online 06: $10,300 NLHE [8-Max, High Roller].

Another three players are within four big blinds including Eelis "EEE27" Pärssinen (2,368,588), Joao "Naza114" Vieira (2,297,306) and Artur "mararthur1" Martirosian (2,102,161), while Raise Your Edge founder Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle follows not far behind with 1,854,998. The trio at the bottom of the leaderboard consists of EPT Online 03: $5,200 NLHE [8-Max, High Roller] champion David "MonkeyBausss" Laka (1,263,703), Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo (1,083,843) and Jamie "jamienixon90" Nixon (945,832), the latter of which is in for a bargain after winning the entry in a winner-takes-all $75 Spin & Go.

All remaining nine players have at least $62,353 locked up and the winner takes home a top prize of $539,819.

Three tables were in play right away and the field kept growing during the late registration period with many big names of the international poker circuit firing more than one bullet. Ultimately, the field consisted of 49 entries and 32 re-entries, and some of those that were in for three shells without any return on their investment included David "dpeters17" Peters, Wiktor "limitless" Malinowski, Christoph "26071985" Vogelsang, Michael "imluckbox" Addamo and Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski.

PokerStars ambassador Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis was aiming to raise any cash in the tournament towards a charity for the Lewis Body Dementia but the high stakes battle was not crowned with success for the Dutchman. Veldhuis was unable to get there with ace-jack suited against the ace-queen of Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle and departed mid-way through the day.

The ascend of Andrei "ragAAAila19" Boghean to the top of the leaderboard started on the final three tables when he first flopped a flush with four-trey suited and caught Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas with the fingers in the cookie jar, holding just a pair of fives. Laurynas "LaurisL91" Levinskas saw his kings cracked by the ace-king suited of Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood and Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer departed in 17th place.

After the rapid eliminations of Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi, "hello_totti" and Sergi "srxakgirona" Reixach, it was Jamie "jamienixon90" Nixon that jumped into the lead after doubling through Timothy "Tim0thee" Adams and bluff-catching twice shortly after. Greenwood suddenly became the shortest stack but managed to spin it up again and Boghean doubled through Adams with jacks versus ace-ten suited, fading a gutshot, flush draw, and live card.

Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz out just before the money

The tense rollercoaster ride continued for an extended period and Boghean then busted Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz in spectacular fashion when jack-ten suited cracked aces. Adams eventually jammed ace-five into the jacks of Boghean, who immediately flopped a set and set up a frantic money bubble period.

Numerous double-ups later it was Greenwood that missed out on the money and all nine remaining hopefuls wrapped up for the night. They will be back the following day at 1.05 p.m. EST with almost the entire level 23 to play for at blinds of 35,000/70,000 and a running ante of 8,750.

The Final Table will be broadcasted on the PokerStars YouTube and Twitch channel with cards-up coverage and commentary on a security delay of half an hour. All PokerNews live updates then will be published according to the stream delay. You can also check out all previous results and ongoing 2020 PokerStars EPT Online coverages right here.

Greenwood Bubbles; Play Concludes

Level 23 : 35,000/70,000, 8,750 ante

David "MonkeyBausss" Laka raised it up to 490,000 with 140,234 behind and only one player at the table had fewer than that. This happened to be Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood, who three-bet all in for 554,720 and was called by Laka.

Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
David "MonkeyBausss" Laka: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Laka had Greenwood covered by a big blind and an ante and found no help on the {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop and {7-Hearts} turn. However, it was the {a-Clubs} river that eventually let a lengthy bubble burst as Greenwood was the last player to leave empty-handed.

All remaining nine players will return the following day as of 1.05 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to play down to a winner. The end-of-day chip counts and a recap of today's action are to follow.

Adams Eliminated Two Off the Money

Level 21 : 25,000/50,000, 6,000 ante
Adams Eliminated by Boghean
Adams Eliminated by Boghean

Timothy "Tim0thee" Adams started the betting action with a button raise to 110,000 and chip leader Andrei "ragAAAila19" Boghean three-bet to 350,000 out of the small blind. Adams then pushed for just over 1.5 million and was quickly called.

Timothy "Tim0thee" Adams: {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Andrei "ragAAAila19" Boghean: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Adams flopped a pair and turned two pair but the {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board spelled the end for the Canadian two off the money. All remaining hands for tonight will now be played in hand-for-hand mode on the money bubble.

Holz eliminated by ragAAAila19
Holz eliminated by ragAAAila19

First to act, Andrei "ragAAAila19" Boghean min-raised to 100,000 and Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz three-bet all-in for 583,844 from the very next seat. A call by Boghean followed and the cards were turned over.

"Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Andrei "ragAAAila19" Boghean:

The {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop was tremendous for Holz who had diamonds covered. However, an unlikely {9-Clubs} turn and {k-Hearts} river runout sent Holz to the rail in an unfortunate fashion.

Buldygin eliminated by Rolle
Buldygin eliminated by Rolle

The action folded to Vyacheslav "VbV1990" Buldygin on the button and he got the last 15 and a half blinds in only for Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle to reshove with the superior stack in the small blind. Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood in the big blind got our of the way and the cards were turned over.

Vyacheslav "VbV1990" Buldygin: {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Buldygin became an even bigger underdog on the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop and found none of the four remaining kings in the deck on the {5-Diamonds} turn and {10-Spades} river to exit in 13th place.

Adams Flops a Flush to Bust Reixach

Reixach eliminated by Adams
Reixach eliminated by Adams

Timothy "Tim0thee" Adams simply raised to 300,000 out of the small blind and the table short stack Sergi "srxakgirona" Reixach had 220,670 behind in the big blind, which he eventually called for.

Sergi "srxakgirona" Reixach: {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Timothy "Tim0thee" Adams: {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Adams hit gold, or hearts, so to speak, on the {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop, and that immediately left Reixach drawing dead even before the {2-Spades} turn and {j-Clubs} river completed the board.

hello_totti eliminated by Rolle

The action folded all the way around to Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle in the small blind and he moved all-in for an effective 484,236 as that's what "hello_totti" had behind in the big blind. The finalist of the $10,300 High Roller made the call to set up the following showdown.

"hello_totti": {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle: {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

King-high ended up winning the pot on a {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and that sent "hello_totti" to the rail prior to the money.

As shortest stack on the table, Talal "raidalot Shakerchi moved all in from under the gun for 308,011 and was called by Jamie "jamienixon90" Nixon in the big blind.

Talal "raidalot Shakerchi: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Jamie "jamienixon90" Nixon: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

The classic race ran out in favor of Nixon thanks to the {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades} board and Shakerchi was eliminated in 16th place.

Down to the last 418,587, Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer moved all-in from the small blind and only had to get rid of Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo in the big blind. That was not the case, however, as the Spaniard instantly called.

Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O'Dwyer: {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

There was no glimpse of additional hope for O'Dwyer on the {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} board and his departure reduced the field to the final two tables.

Greenwood Doubles Rudolph; Busts Levinskas

Level 17 : 12,500/25,000, 3,250 ante
Rudolph doubles through Greenwood
Rudolph doubles through Greenwood

Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph got his chips in with the {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and had a flip against button raiser Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood, who tabled {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. On a board of {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, the jacks reigned supreme and Rudolph doubled.

Soon after the next short stack was at risk. Rudolph had opened to 50,000 first to act and Greenwood jammed the small blind. Laurynas "LaurisL91" Levinskas called all-in from the big blind for 353,644 and Rudolph folded.

Laurynas "LaurisL91" Levinskas: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

On a {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, Greenwood picked up a gutshot and the {q-Clubs} turn provided the flush draw on top. Instead, it was the classic ace on the river as the {a-Diamonds} sent Levinskas to the rail.
