£50,000 EPT Super High Roller

Day 2 Started

Day 2 of £50,000 Super High Roller Begins at 12:30 p.m.

EPT Trophy
EPT Trophy

Welcome back to the second day of the £50,000 Super High Roller here at the PokerStars European Poker Tour London. After eight levels were played on Day 1, the field of 30 entries was whittled down to just 16 players with Ben Heath leading the charge.

The high-stakes tournament brought out some of the best players in the world to battle it out for one of the largest paydays at this year's stop in London. The field was littered with familiar names and there was no shortage of some great poker being played. That being said, in such a small field there is only room for a limited number of players to reach the money and take home a piece of the prize pool.

That will all take place today when the action resumes at 12:30 pm local time at the Hilton Park Lane. Heath will enter the day as the chip leader with a stack of 918,000 chips, good enough for roughly 150 big blinds. He will be joined by Christoph Vogelsang (843,000) and Philip Sternheimer (654,000) at the top of the leaderboard.

Late registration will remain open until the start of play today for any of those looking to grab a last-minute starting stack of 250,000 chips. When the action resumes, the blinds will continue at 3,000/6,000 and a 6,000 big blind ante. The levels will still be 60 minutes in length throughout the day with a 20-minute break after every two levels. The schedule for the day indicates they will play down to the final six players or into the money, but that could always change.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates as the action unfolds en route to crowning a new champion tomorrow.

Bujtas Jams Into Hecklen

Level 9 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Henrik Hecklen opened to 13,000 on the button and Laszlo Bujtas three-bet to 58,000 from the small blind. Hecklen called and they went heads-up to a flop of {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}.

Bujtas continued with a bet of 32,000 and Hecklen called to see the {j-Spades} on the turn. Bujtas sized up with a bet of 120,000 this time and Hecklen still called.

The river brought the {4-Hearts} and Bujtas quickly jammed all in. He was met by a snap-call from Hecklen for his last 269,000 chips. Bujtas turned over {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for just ace-high while Hecklen held {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for two pair to double up.

Bedell Making Early Moves

Level 9 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Action was heads up with nearly 100,000 in the pot and {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades} on the board when Pedro Garagnani checked from the big blind. Andras Nemeth bet 25,000 from the button and Garagnani called. The river was {6-Diamonds} and Garagnani check-folded when Nemeth slid out a stack of T-25,000 chips.

On the next hand, Tom-Aksel Bedell raised to 12,000 from late position and Orpen Kisacikoglu called from the button. Graeme Newman came along from the big blind and the flop was {4-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{6-Spades}. Newman checked and Bedell bet 16,000. It was too much for both players and they folded the pot to Bedell.

Pedro Garagnani got the last of it in for around 200,000 and Orpen Kisacikoglu was the one to put him at risk.

Greenwood Building a Stack

Level 9 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Just moments after eliminating the short stack of Laszlo Bujtas, Sam Greenwood was back at it with a raise to 14,000 from the hijack. He was called by Adrian Mateos and Christoph Vogelsang in the blinds.

The dealer fanned the flop of {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and the action checked to Greenwood who continued with a bet of 12,000. Mateos called and Vogelsang stepped aside.

The turn was the {q-Hearts} and Mateos check-called another bet of 60,000 from Greenwood. The {7-Hearts} paired the board on the river and Mateos checked for the third time. Greenwood pushed out a bet of 156,000, leaving just 6,000 behind. Mateos used one of his time banks and then relinquished his hand.
