Nouira Doubles Through Kim

Level 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Maher Nouira
Maher Nouira

In a battle of the blinds, a pot of 45,000 emerged to the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop. Ultimately, Namhyung Kim pushed into Maher Nouira and the latter happily called for the 88,000 he had behind.

Maher Nouira: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Namhyung Kim: {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The {6-Clubs} turn and {k-Clubs} river failed to bring any upset and Nouira doubled.

Dawid Smolka was not as fortunate and bowed out from a neighbouring table moments later, having previously nursed a shorter stack for a while.

Hammond Wins Pot Without Showdown Against Wakil

Level 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Jamil Wakil raised to 5,500 and then called a small three-bet to 13,000 by Mark Hammond. As they headed to the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop, Wakil checked and Hammond bet to win the pot right there.

Day 1 Approaches 50 Entries

Level 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

The field is up to 49 entries mid-way through the penultimate level on Day 1 and the latest duo to enter the fray included Conor Beresford and Phachara Wongwichit. The former sat down with a fresh beer, admitting "it has been a long day" but he will play fewer than one hour in this tournament from now on as will everybody else.

Only 36 players remain with 13 minutes left in level seven.

Suvarna Left With Fumes; Doubles After

Level 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Santhosh Suvarna
Santhosh Suvarna

Adrian Mateos was all-in for a mere 30,000 and Santhosh Suvarna committed his last 36,500 as well. Petr Svoboda was in the tank after he had invested 5,000 and then folded.

Adrian Mateos: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Santhosh Suvarna: {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The kicker played on the {j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} runout and Svoboda was not happy by any means.

One hand later, Suvarna was all-in preflop and received two callers. Pavel Binar bet the {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop to isolate and the showdown commenced.

Santhosh Suvarna: {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Pavel Binar: {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}

The {7-Clubs} kept Binar in the lead but Suarna spiked the {6-Spades} river to survive.

Bad Start for Suvarna on Second Bullet

Level 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Daniel Dvoress was all-in for 49,500 before the flop and Santhosh Suvarna looked him up for what turned out to be a clash of premium pairs.

Daniel Dvoress: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Santhosh Suvarna: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} board changed nothing whatsoever and Suvarna was left with fewer than half the starting stack

One table over, Emil Bise raised to 4,500 and Juan Pardo three-bet to 22,500. Bise used one time bank and then jammed for 99,000. Pardo asked for an exact count and folded.

Suvarna Back In; Lee Busts Aksoy

Level 6 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Emil Bise was balanced over to table two which had lost yet another player. That happened to be Yigit Aksoy, who could not beat the {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs} of Hwany Lee on a nine-high runout. Lee had only hit a four but that was enough to reduce the field by one.

Gab Yong Kim also bowed out while Santhosh Suvarna re-entered.

Lofberg Forces Fold From Kim

Level 6 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Gab Yong Kim opted to check the {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} river and then faced a bet worth 75,000 by Klas Lofberg on the button. That covered his remaining stack and the recent WSOP Europe runner-up to Paul Phua eventually folded after investing one time bank.

Suvarna Eliminated by Pardo

Level 6 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Juan Pardo defended the big blind against a hijack raise by Santhosh Suvarna and both players opted to check the {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop. On the {4-Hearts} turn, Pardo check-called a bet worth 6,500 and checked the {5-Hearts} on the river.

Suvarna bet 20,000 with 15,000 behind only for Pardo to check-raise to 65,000. Only a few seconds later, Suvarna called and was shown the {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the ace-high flush by Pardo. He mucked the cards and then exposed the {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} before heading to the rail.

In the meanwhile, Pavel Binar bowed out from the same table shortly after and Stoyan Obreshkov entered the competition.

Greenwood Takes the Lead After Ousting Waki

Level 6 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Yasuhiro Waki tapped the table in defeat when he came out second-best in the largest pot of the tournament so far. On a board of {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} of Sam Greenwood were good enough for trips queens with the ace kicker and dealer briefly exposed the cards of Waki for what appeared to be {j-}{10-}.

"Nice hand," he said on the way out and Greenwood was then moved tables to balance the shrinking field.

Motoyoshi Okamura and Mike Watson became the next two casualties shortly thereafter.
