Sandberg Among Chip Leaders

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Marte Sandberg raised from the hijack and Aurelien Russo three-bet to 10,5000 from the small blind. Sandberg, whose fellow Norwegian friend was watching the hand, called as table mate Adam Dickson asked the friend how to say "f***" in her native language.

"Faen," she replied.

"That's not what my friend told me," said Dickson. "He must've been trying to get me to say something else!"

Sandberg checked on the flop of {10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Russo bet 7,000. Sandberg called. Sandberg checked again on the {6-Hearts} turn and Russo sized up to 18,000.

Sandberg took a moment before check-raising all in with her opponent covered, which sent Russo deep into the tank for around five minutes. Meanwhile, the conversation continued.

"Do you know how to play PLO?" asked Dickson.

"Yes. Well, I do and I don't," the friend responded.

Someone at the table called the clock and he folded just before time expired to hold onto his remaining 40,000 and surrender the pot to Sandberg, who now sits with one of the biggest stacks in the room.

Russo later told the table he made a big laydown with pocket queens, but also told PokerNews that Sandberg didn't believe him.
