Spoddig Pulls Even With River Shove Holding Pocket Kings

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Carlos Spoddig raised to 180,000 from the button and Kannapong Thanarattrakul defended his big blind with a call.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{5-Spades}{j-Hearts}. Thanarattrakul checked and Spoddig bet 200,000, which Thanarattrakul called.

The turn brought the {9-Diamonds}, Thanarattrakul checked and Spoddig made it 500,000. Thanarattrakul called the bet to make for a significant sized pot by the time the river came.

When the {q-Clubs} fell on the river, Thanarattrakul checked for a third time and Spoddig moved all in. Thanarattrakul called and flipped over {q-}{10-}. His top pair wasn't good enough, however, as Spoddig showed {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for a higher pair. The double up brought Spoddig's stacks close to even with Thanarattrakul.

"I swear, I almost checked back the river," said Spoddig.
