Battle of the Big Stacks

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jaesung Lee
Jaesung Lee

Robert Cowen opened to 6,000 from the cutoff and was three-bet to 20,000 by Jaesung Lee on the button and Cowen called.

Cowen check-called Lee's bet of 13,000 on the {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Spades} flop and the two big stacks took to the {q-Hearts} turn. Cowen checked again and Lee sized up betting 45,000 only for Cowen to fold.

Lee jested "I never bluff!" flashing {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} as he raked in another pot and is now one of biggest stacks in the room.

Karakitukov Takes Four-Bet Pot

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Veselin Karakitukov opened to 6,000 from the hijack. Immediately on his left, Alfonso Simone three-bet to 15,000 in the cutoff. Back on Karakitukov, he four-bet to 38,000. After much thought, Simone called.

The flop came out {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{q-Spades}. Karakitukov led for 20,000. Simone went into the tank for about four minutes before tossing his cards into the muck.

"Ace-king," he said, pointing at Karakitukov.

Karakitukov shrugged, and said "maybe."

Double Knockout for Matrai

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Giovanni Petroni raised all-in for the last 14,000 and Jordan Sacucci called. Andras Matrai also called out of the small blind before Kassem Hammoud jammed for 34,000 in the big blind. Sacucci folded and Matrai called to put the two shorter stacks at risk of elimination.

Giovanni Petroni: {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Kassem Hammoud: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Andras Matrai: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

The {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Spades} runout gave Matrai a set of sixes and he knocked out two opponents, the table broke right after as the field plummeted well below 200 hopefuls.

Thiriat Flipped Out by Aksu

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

As the money bubble is slowly but surely drawing closer, the all-in showdowns keep on coming. The latest one was a coin flip between Arthur Thiriat with pocket eights and the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} of Osman Aksu.

On a board of {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, Aksu improved on the flop and stayed ahead to reduce the field by one.

Niederreiter Crashes Out With Aces

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

There was a loud gasp coming from table 20 as Fabian Niederreiter vaulted out of his chair in disgust. His chips were pushed to Jussi Mattila, who had come out on top of a duel big blind versus button.

All cards were still exposed as Niederreiter had gotten it in for around 60,000 with the {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Mattila was behind with the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} but scored a fortunate runout on the {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{k-Spades} board to eliminate Niederreiter shy of the money.

Auzoux Takes From Chip Leader

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Gregoire Auzoux opened from the hijack and ran into a three-bet on the button from chip leader Luigi D'Alterio. Back on Auzoux, he moved all in for 92,000. D'Alterio called quickly.

"I'm bad," said Auzoux. "I was so sure. Ace!"

Gregoire Auzoux: {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Luigi D'Alterio: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

D'Alterio had the goods, but the flop worked against him when the {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts} came out. The turn {a-Diamonds} and river {6-Spades} gave Auzoux the full house and D'Alterio dipped back under the one million mark for now.

"I folded an ace, too," said tablemate Andreas Chalkiadakis.

Adi Rajkovic had around 15 big blinds and ripped all in for around 45,000 in the hijack. Jaesung Lee, one of the chip leaders, had the chips to call on the button to put Rajkovic at risk.

Adi Rajkovic: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Jaesung Lee: {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Stokkan Sticky Against Check-Raise

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action started on the flop in a heads-up pot with a board of {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. About 10,000 was in the middle.

Motoyoshi Okamura checked the big blind. In the cutoff, Preben Stokkan bet 4,000. Okamura check-raised to 12,500. After some thought, Stokkan made the call.

The turn brought the {a-Hearts}. Okamura led for 20,000. After a much shorter pause for thinking, Stokkan called again.

The river came the {6-Hearts}. Okamura slowed down and checked the final street, Stokkan was content to check behind.

Okamura showed {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for flopped top pair, but Stokkan drilled the turn and showed {a-Clubs}{j-Spades} for the winner.
