Pique Drags One In, Kabrhel Busts with Two Pair

Level 9 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Gerard Pique
Gerard Pique

Juan Pardo opened to 15,000 on the button and was called by Gerard Pique and Kent Staahle from the blinds.

The {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} flop checked through to the {8-Hearts} turn. Pique checked to Staahle, and he bet 16,000. Pardo quickly folded but Pique stuck around to see the {9-Diamonds} river.

Both players checked through to showdown where Staahle had pocket fives, but was bested by Pique's {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

As the hand played out, Martin Kabrhel was eliminated on a nearby table after losing with {k-}{8-} on a {k-}{9-}{2-}{8-}{x-} board. His eliminator was Mike Watson, who had flopped a set of deuces.
