Loyher Kept Alive by River

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

An early position player opened to 4,000, Marie-Laure Loyher jammed for 34,000 in middle position, and Philip O'Brien put chips in from one seat over while everyone else folded.

Marie-Laure Loyher: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Philip O'Brien: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Loyher needed to improve, but the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop changed nothing. The {3-Spades} turn left her needing an ace or queen, and the {a-Spades} spiked the river to give her the double and keep her tournament life alive.

Parham Ahoor: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Jakub Wojtas: {9-Spades}{6-Spades}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Spades} and Wojtas made a pair of sixes to knock Ahoor out of the tournament.

M'hiri Cracks Aces to Bust Mariani

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

With around 30,000 in the pot and {10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} on the board, Julien Mariani checked from the small blind and Chakib M'hiri bet 25,000 from under the gun. Mariani responded with a shove for 130,500 and M'hiri went into the tank.

After counting his chips out for a few minutes while considering the possibilities, he put out the exact change to call.

Julien Mariani: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Chakib M'hiri: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

M'hiri had a set of jacks for the lead. The turn was {4-Clubs} and the river {2-Hearts}, with no help for Mariani as he gathered his things and headed for the door.

There was discussion in French about a possible slow roll, but the table seemed to agree that M'hiri was right to spend some time thinking about the flush draw.

Sloane Martin Ceccaldi: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

Jean-Paul Minassian: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Thierry Oldak: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {4-Diamonds} completed the board and Minassian took the pot with his superior kicker.
