Sitbon Chips Up At Expense of Orpaz

Level 4 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

Within rather quick succession, Tom Orpaz and Julien Sitbon tangled in two bigger pots. In the first one, the completed board showed {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Orpaz folded when facing a bet of 46,000.

The Israeli didn't fold the second time, however, and check-called for 61,000 on the {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} river. Sitbon tabled the {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a set of sixes and Orpaz tapped the table in defeat.

"Nice hand," he added to be left with some 20 blinds. However, only a short while later the dealer announced a seat open on table one and Orpaz was eliminated.

Marques Chips Up Through Dickerson

Level 4 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Andre Marques
Andre Marques

Heads-up to the {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, both Jules Dickerson and Andre Marques invested 15,000 each which led them to the {10-Clubs} turn. This time, the action went check, check, and the {q-Clubs} river completed the board. Dickerson checked again and Marques overbet 62,500 with a single chip behind.

No call followed as Dickerson instantly folded.

Bejjani No More After Clash With Ketzer

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

On a heads-up flop of {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, Kamal Bejjani bet 8,000 and then quickly called a raise to 23,000 by Felipe Ketzer in the cutoff. That led them to the {8-Diamonds} turn on which Bejjani checked. Ketzer now made it 37,500 to go and Bejjani stuck around to see the {j-Spades} on the river.

The shove by Bejjani followed and Ketzer called all-in for 45,500, revealing the {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for deuces full of jacks. Bejjani only had the {k-Spades}{6-Spades} for the nut flush and was left with fumes, then bowed out shortly after on a new table.

Quick Exit for Eychenne

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

In a previous hand, Thomas Eychenne had lost a big portion of his stack when he could not beat the {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} of Timothy Adams on a board of {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

That left the Frenchman with around 19,000 and those few chips went in from the small blind soon after. He was looked up by Mauricio Salazar Sanchez on the button to create the following showdown.

Thomas Eychenne: {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Mauricio Salazar Sanchez: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Eychenne remained ahead on the {j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop and {9-Diamonds} turn. However, the {k-Diamonds} river improved Salazar Sanchez to a pair of kings and Eychenne became the second casualty on Day 1.

Neymar Back to the Starting Stack

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Neymar Jr
Neymar Jr

Football star Neymar Jr. had lost a portion of his stack and was then involved in a bigger pot against fellow countryman Felipe Ketzer. They created a pot of what appeared to be 59m000 to the {q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{k-Spades} river on which Ketzer knuckled it back with a smile on the face and some brief table chat in their native language.

Neymar rolled over the {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for two pair and that won the pot.

Salazar Sanchez Faces Resistence

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Mauricio Salazar Sanchez had taken a seat in the second level of the day and hovered around the starting stack. Two hands in a row, he opened to 3,500 but didn't go any further. In the first hand, Thomas Eychenne three-bet to 10,000 and both folded to a four-bet shove by Jamil Wakil.

One hand later, Adam Miller three-bet to 14,500 in the small blind to win another pot.

Chaoui Forces Out Van Luijk

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

The action started with a button raise by Tobias Schwecht and Derk van Luijk three-bet to 8,500 in the small blind. Mehdi Chaoui four-bet to 20,000 in the big blind and van Luijk was the only caller. Heads-up to the {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, van Luijk check-called for 9,500 and the {8-Spades} turn was checked by both players.

Following the {6-Diamonds} river, van Luijk checked again and Chaoui bet 35,000 to win the pot uncontested.
