Cooler Flop Sends Shimizu to the Rail

With about 10,000 in the middle, the flop read 8♣6♥4♣, and Nozomu Shimizu was seen getting his last 15,000 into the middle against Elias Gutierrez.

It was a nasty flop for Shimizu as his bottom two pair ran into top set leaving him drawing thin. The 6♣ fell on the turn, giving him an out for quads as he laughed and pointed at the six. The 5♥ river was close but wasn't what he needed as he stood up from the table.

Mounir Tajiou limped under the gun before Gab Yong Kim raised 7,000 next to act. The action folded back to Tajiou who put in a re-raise to 17,000, and Kim called.

The dealer fanned a flop of Q♣10♦7♠, and Tajiou continued for 35,000. Kim called.

When the 7♣ fell on the turn, Tajiou didn't slow down, dropping 45,000 across the line. Kim tanked for a few moments before tossing his cards into the muck.

Andras Nemeth opened from under the gun to 4,000. Nozomu Shimizu shoved all in from the cutoff with less than 10 big blinds and Nemeth made the call, saying he wanted to gamble.

The flop came A♦5♠J♥, keeping Shimizu behind but giving him a straight draw.

A 7♦ turn changed nothing in the hand.

However, Shimizu hit a 10♠ on the river to complete his straight and get a much-needed double up.

In the final hand of the previous level, Ihor Hula open-raised to 4,500 and Toni Kaukua called from the button. Mounir Tajiou also came along from the big blind, and all three players checked on the A♣10♦9♦ flop.

Tajiou then led out for 8,000 on the 2♣ turn, which only Hula called. The K♠ river arrived and Tajiou thought for some time before putting in a massive overbet of 50,000.

Hula quickly folded and Tajiou thanked the dealer for the river while he stacked up his chips.
