Kovalski Flops Set, Gets Outdrawn

Fabiano Kovalski raised to 40,000 in the hijack with 8♥8♣. Kyosuke Nagami called in the small blind with K♦J♠, as did Vladimir Erceg in the big blind with 10♦9♠.

The flop fanned out 6♠5♠8♦. The action checked to Kovalski, who bet another 40,000. Nagami quickly folded but Erceg stuck around with his straight draw.

The 10♠ turn gave Erceg top pair and a flush draw, which he checked. Kovalski fired a big bet of 150,000 into the pot, which Erceg paid.

Erceg hit his flush on the 4♠ river, which was checked by both players. Erceg tabled his cards, causing Kovalski to disappointedly muck his cards.
