Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Virlanuta Wins Pot With Higher Set

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Marian Virlanuta had already moved all in with a short stack on the flop and had two callers as action went to the turn on a board of Q328.

Dauren Zhaparov checked and Aleksandr Lakhov bet 50,000. Zhaparov check-raised all in for not much more and Lakhov flicked in a chip to call.

Lakhov had 22 for a set of deuces, Virlanuta had 88 for a set of eights and Zhaparov mucked his hand.

The river came the 5 and Virlanuta won the pot to triple up, bringing his chip count back above starting stack. Lakhov won the side pot, while Zhaparov was eliminated.

Simon Wiciak
Simon Wiciak

Simon Wiciak and Stefan Dimitrov were heads up on a 1062 flop. Wiciak checked from the big blind and Dimitrov bet 1,800 on the button. Wiciak then check-raised to 6,000 and Dimitrov called.

Wiciak opted to check on the 7 turn and Dimitrov seized the initiative with a 4,500 bet. Wiciak again check-raised, this time to 12,000, and Dimitrov called after a bit of thought.

The 10 completed the board and Wiciak fired 19,400 into the middle, leaving himself just 1,000 behind. Dimitrov decided to look Wiciak up and he tabled 106 for a full house.

Dimitrov couldn't beat it and mucked — awarding Wiciak the near double up.
