Folding Pocket Kings???
Folding Pocket Kings???

The 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour is in full swing at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel and Spa, with the $5,300 Main Event currently midway through Day 2.

After late registration closed earlier, the series showstopper recorded 1,284 entries and generated a $6,227,400 prize pool, of which more than $1 million awaits the eventual champion. One player looking to do all it takes to become the next EPT Champion is Peter Tschernigg. The Austrian poker player has just over $30,000 in live earnings and found himself in a horrible spot preflop, with the tournament just a few dozen eliminations away from the money.

Santhosh Suvarna
Santhosh Suvarna

On a board that read J1085 with around 35,000 chips in the middle, Jakob Miegel fired 28,000, and Santhosh Suvarna raised to 65,000. Miegel called with around 75,000 behind.

A 7 landed on the river and after Miegel checked, Suvarna swiftly shoved, which gave Miegel a decision for his tournament life. It took some time for Miegel to run it through his mind, but eventually he settled on a fold, and Suvarna levitated his stack up to almost 400,000.

Taylor Survives Scare as Bubble Looms

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Viktor Ustimov raised to 6,000 from the hijack and Guy Taylor three-bet the big blind to 28,000. Ustimov then shoved, and Taylor called off his stack of a little under 150,000.

Guy Taylor: AK All in
Viktor Ustimov: AK

Taylor was looking to use his extra equity to score a double-up, but instead was left staring elimination in the face as the flop of 8610 gave Ustimov a flush draw. Taylor faded the heart on the 7 turn and the J river, which kept him alive with twelve eliminations to go until the money bubble bursts.

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Andreas Tomazou opened to 6,000 from under the gun, receiving a call from Luca Stevanato in middle position, before Philip Joyce produced a three-bet to 25,500 from the small blind. Only Tomazou called.

On the A87 flop, Joyce continued with a bet of 15,000, which didn't persuade Tomazou to go anywhere.

Ghassan Gone, Sereika Chips Up

Ibrahim Ghassan
Ibrahim Ghassan

On a flop of QKQ, Ibrahim Ghassan got his remaining stack of around 45,000 into the middle and Karolis Sereika called.

Ibrahim Ghassan: KJ All in
Karolis Sereika: AK

It didn't look good for Ghassan as he didn't have much hope of winning the pot, but there were a few chop outs still in the deck. However, the 6 turn wasn't one of them, and neither was the A river as Sereika improved to aces up, which meant Ghassan was eliminated.
