Docherty Loses Three-Bet Pot to Cochin

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Following one limp, David Docherty made it 3,500 to go in the hijack. Aristide Cochin three-bet to 11,500 on the button and the blinds as well as limper folded, Docherty called and then asked his opponent to move over the large chips.

They headed to the Q97 flop on which Docherty checked. Cochin bet 14,000 and the snap-fold of Docherty followed.

"I knew you had a decent stack, but not you had that many blue," Docherty remarked. With the felt and light in blue, the largest chip denomination in play can be tricky to see.

Ponomarev Busts to Azrak

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Nikolay Ponomarev raised to 2,000 from late position and was called by Omar Azrak in the small blind. Giovanni Torre then raised to 8,000 from the big blind. Both Ponomarev and Azrak called.

The flop came J42. Azrak checked, Torre bet 8,000, then Ponomarev moved all in for around 15,000. Azrak folded and Torre made the call. He showed J9 for a pair of jacks, but Azrak flipped QQ for pocket queens, an overpair to the board.

The turn came the 10 and river the 3. Azrak held to near-double his stack and Ponomarev was eliminated from the tournament.

Hooper Wins Flip

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Albert Aurelien opened 2,500 in middle position and the action folded to Donald Hooper in the big blind who announced all-in. Aurelien wasted no time calling off his stack of about 38,000, and both hands were turned on their backs.

Albert Aurelien: 99
Donald Hooper: AK

It was a classic race as the 762 flop hit the felt. Aurelien was still in the lead with his pair of nines, but the A turn left him drawing thin. The 10 river changed nothing, sending Aurelien out.
