Aerts Notches Up a Knockout

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Pieter Aerts
Pieter Aerts

The cards were already on their backs preflop after Pieter Aerts jammed out of the small blind and Kiryl Asaulenka called all in for approximately 25,000 behind from the big blind.

Kiryl Asaulenka: 66
Pieter Aerts: AQ

The bigger stack improved right away on the A87 flop while Asaulenka gained some equity with the 4 turn. However, neither the set or straight came with the 10 river and that spelled the end for the Belorussian.

He briefly chatted with Konstantyn Holskyi in the four seat and mentioned he would jump into the Mystery Bounty Event shortly.

Satubayev Busts Sandev

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Georgi Sandev had been left short-stacked and his remaining 22,000 was in the middle and he was at risk versus Shyngis Satubayev.

Georgi Sandev: KQ
Shyngis Satubayev: A9

Sandev needed some help but he missed the 8J6 flop.

The A came on the turn to give Satubayev a pair of aces and leave Sandev drawing to the straight, but the K arrived on the river to give him second pair and send him to the exit.

Rantala Smacks the Flop For a Massive Double Knockout

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

"I have them convinced I never bluff. Back from the dead," Graydon Kowal said as the cards were being dealt at his table. He proved to be a mere spectator as Paul Covaciu moved all in for 24,000 in early position. Philippe Barouk called on the button, as did Eero Rantala in the small blind.

The flop came 629 and Barouk bet 25,000. Rantala called to create a side pot as they went to the 3 turn.

Barouk fired another 40,000 and Rantala came back with an all-in shove. Barouk tanked for a few moments before calling for around 140,000.

He showed JJ and Covaciu turned over AK. They were both behind, however, as Rantala showed 99 for a set. The river was the Q and Rantala scooped the massive pot to send both players to the rail.

"Good hand," Kowal told him.

"Thank you. Got very lucky," Rantala replied as he stacked up more than 500,000.

Zoufri Joins Exit Line

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Abdelhakim Zoufri had made it 15,000 to go preflop when Jorge Ramella reraised to 36,000. Zoufri then jammed all in for 100,000 chips and Ramella snap called with the covering stack.

Abdelhakim Zoufri: KK
Jorge Ramella: AA

Zoufri suffered the ultimate hold 'em cooler but turned some hope for an escape on 447J. The 5 river did not bring in his flush, however, and he quickly vacated the tournament area.

Wang Runs Into McConachie's Set, Whiffs the River

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Heads-up on a flop of JQ2, David McConachie bet 11,000 from the big blind and Yanfeng Wang called in the hijack.

The turn was the 8 and McConachie moved all in. Wang thought about it for around 20 seconds before calling for 50,000 more.

McConcahie showed JJ for a set and Wang turned over AQ for top pair and the nut flush draw. The river was the A and Wang could only make a no-good two pair as McConachie sent him to the rail.

"I thought he was going to be drawing dead when he called. I wasn't expecting that," McConachie said as he stacked up the pot.

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Aleksejs Ponakovs
Aleksejs Ponakovs

Joao Sydenstricker opened to 5,000, Aleksejs Ponakovs called, and action folded to Daan Mulders on the button.

He reached for chips and produced a three-bet to 18,000. Sydenstricker folded, but Ponakovs reached for more chips and produced a four-bet to 34,000.

The preflop action wasn't done there yet, as Mulders was not to be taken off his hand, reaching for chips and putting out a bet of 55,000. Ponakovs called.

On the 796 flop, Ponakovs moved all in and Mulders called off his remaining 55,000, with Mulders at risk.

Daan Mulders: QQ
Aleksejs Ponakovs: AJ

Mulders was ahead with his overpair of queens but Ponakovs had plenty of outs with his flush draw.

The 7 rolled off on the turn to complete Ponakovs' flush, leaving Mulders drawing to a queen, and that did not arrive on the 6 river, sending him to the exit.

Soika Beats Countinho in Showdown

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

On the tail end of a KKQ56 board, Ihar Soika bet 20,500 in the small blind. Fellow big stack Sergio Coutinho called in the big blind but quickly mucked his cards when Soika revealed the K8 for flopped trip kings.

Both players are among the current chip leaders and Soika may very well surpass half a million in chips if he continues the hot run for the day.

Odeen Gets There on the River

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Heads-up on a flop of 546, Jerry Odeen bet 15,000 from the big blind, Louis Karam shoved the button, and Odeen called for his last 51,000.

Jerry Odeen: K7
Louis Karam: 1010

Karam was ahead with his pocket tens, while Odeen was on a straight draw. The 4 fell on the turn, but the 3 river gave Odeen his straight as Karam slammed the table in frustration before taking a photo of the board.

Amiri Dents Jorgne's Stack

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

The mobile camera crew was at the table of the 2023 EPT Paris Main Event runner-up Peter Jorgne, who fired a bet of 25,000 out of the big blind with the turn showing A73A. Ehsan Amiri called on the button and the duo headed to the 8 river.

Jorgne opted to check and Amiri cut out a bet worth 50,000. That was enough to win the pot uncontested, as the Swede mulled it over for a half a minute to then fold.
