Lijo Takes Lead as Mandara Runs Queens Into Kings

Sitting in late position, Lander Lijo got into a preflop raising battle with Ryan Mandara, who had him covered from the button. Mandara made the last push and Lijo called off his stack for 107,000. He was at risk as players flipped their cards.

It was a cooler for Mandara and he found no help as the board ran out J♦5♠A♣J♥2♦. Lijo held with his pocket kings to score a huge double up, giving him the chip lead.

Paul Lagan raised to 3,000 from under the gun, Juho Suutari three-bet to 9,000 and Lagan called.

The flop came 7♥9♠A♠ and Lagan checked. Suutari made it 6,000 and Lagan called. Both players checked it back on the 10♥ turn.

The river came the J♣ and Lagan picked up the betting, leading out for 16,500. Suutari folded and Lagan won the pot.

Preflop Battles Begin as Suhonen Moves All In

It's early in the event, the blinds still relatively low and the stacks deep, so many pots have been played to a single raise or three-bet. Not this one.

Yauheni Tsiareshchanka open raised to 2,000 from late position before Elias Suhonen three-bet to 8,000 from the button. Action folded back around to Tsiareshchanka, who four-bet to 21,000. Suhonen used a time bank card before five-betting all in, putting Tsiareshchanka under pressure for his entire stack.

Tsiareshchanka folded and Suhonen took the pot preflop, chipping up to around 150,000.

Action was on the river on a board of 9♦Q♣7♣9♣5♠ and Tuen Mulder had checked it over to his opponent. Maksim Vaskresenski fired out a bet of 12,000, sending Mulder into deep thought. He made the call, only for Vaskresenski to flip over the winning hand, Q♦10♠ for two pair.

During the first couple of levels, Mulder lost nearly half of his stack while Vaskresenski chipped up to put himself among the early chip leaders.

Jeremie Zouari raised to 2,500 from under the gun, Juho Suutari called on the button, Sonny Franco called in the small blind and Simone Andrian called in the big blind.

The flop came 2♥5♥8♣ and action checked to Zouari, who placed out a bet of 6,500. Suutari folded before Franco raised it up to 19,000. Andrian mucked and then Zouari also folded to give Franco a decent little pot to add to his growing stack.

Vaskresenski and Arrocha Clash Twice, Vaskresenski Comes Out on Top

Maksim Vaskresenski open raised to 2,000 from late position, Mario Navarro Arrocha called on the button, and the big blind came along.

The flop came J♣9♣5♠ and the big blind checked. Vaskresenski made it 2,000 to go and only Arrocha made the call. Both players checked back on the 9♥ turn.

The river was the 9♦, putting three nines on the board. Players checked to showdown. Vaskresenski had K♣10♥ and Arrocha had K♦Q♠ for king-high with the queen kicker to win the pot.

The very next hand, Vaskresenski raised again and Arrocha three-bet to 7,000, which Vaskresenski called.

The flop came K♣7♣K♦ and Vaskresenski checked. Arrocha bet 4,000 and Vaskresenski called. Again, neither player fancied inflating the pot on the 7♥ turn, both checking back to the river.

The river was the 2♠ and Vaskresenski led out for 8,500. The shot clock ran down as Arrocha pondered his decision before making the fold and conceding the pot. Vaskresenski came out on top after the two-hand exchange.
