Antal Hamza moved all in from the hijack for 725,000. Jason Wheeler rejammed all in from the small blind. He had Hamza covered.
Antal Hamza: 4♠4♦
Jason Wheeler: A♣K♦
Hamza flopped a full house on J♣J♦J♥. Wheeler couldn't catch an ace or a king across the Q♠ turn and the 2♣ river.
Hamza got out of his seat and seemingly did a lap of honour in celebration of his double up. The table then wondered whether they thought Hamza had won the hand.
Wheeler quipped "he's gone home to tell his mum about this."
A few hands later he fell to Claudio Di Giacomo when he made two pair with A♦7♠. He bested Wheeler's K♦10♠ across the A♠Q♣2♦7x10x runout.
Action folded around to Omar Del Pino who called in the small blind. Ryan Mandara checked his option in the big blind.
The 2♠J♠K♥ flop saw a bet of 125,000 from Del Pino and a call from Mandara. The 10♠ completed potential flush draws. Both players checked.
Del Pino then announced 170,000 on the A♣ river. Mandara exhaled deeply as this card now put four to the Broadway straight on board.
"Six-seven offsuit maybe" said Mandara to himself. He took 30 more seconds before calling.
Del Pino did indeed have a seven. He showed 7♥3♣ and Mandara took the pot with J♥8♦.
Malcolm Franchi raised to 250,000 from middle position, leaving 140,000 behind, and was called by Mariusz Golinski on his direct left. Everyone else folded.
The flop fell Q♠7♦8♥, and Franchi made the move to push all in and Golinski made the move to call.
"Why snap call?" Franchi asked. "Either I’m ahead or I need two outs," he continued. He then moved all in for his last 140,000 chips.
"You’re ahead," Golinski replied as he made the call.
Malcolm Franchi: 4♣4♠
Mariusz Golinski: A♦J♦
The 4♦ on the turn improved Franchi to a set, but it gave Golinski additional outs with a backdoor flush draw. However, the 5♠ on the river was no help to Golinski, and Franchi doubled up to stay alive in the tournament.
Omar Del Pino opened to 60,000 from early position. Action folded around to Marton Czuczor who moved all in. Del Pino called.
Omar Del Pino: J♣J♦
Marton Czuczor: A♣Q♦
Del Pino made two pair across the 4♦4♥10♦8♥2♠ runout to secure another double up in quick succession. Czuczor couldn't spin up his short stack and busted a few hands later.
Bernat Capdevila Montes opened the action from the hijack with a raise to 60,000, which Virgile Turchi called from the small blind.
The 4♦K♦K♥ flop saw Montes continue for 40,000, only for Turchi to raise to 110,000. After a brief moment of consideration, Montes made the call.
On the 5♣ turn, Turchi seized the initiative, leading out for 130,000. Montes, undeterred, quickly called again.
When the 10♥ completed the board on the river, Turchi took his time before opting to check. Montes, checked back quickly.
At the showdown, Turchi revealed 4♠4♣ for a full house, leaving Montes visibly surprised as he was about to show his cards. With a flick of his hand, Montes tossed them into the muck, unable to claim the pot. Turchi’s unexpected strength caught Montes off guard.
Jason Wheeler raised to 50,000 from early position. The action folded to Antal Hamza, who moved all in from the button. Josip Vidovic, on his direct left, also shoved all in, and Wheeler snap-called.
Josip Vidovic: Q♣Q♥
Antal Hamza: A♥A♦
Jason Wheeler: K♠K♥
A sick cooler was underway, and Hamza shouted with excitement when the dealer put out the A♠5♣9♣ flop. The 7♦ on the turn left his opponents drawing dead, and the 6♠ on the river completed the board, giving Hamza the triple up and eliminating Vidovic.
Simon Lofberg moved all in from late position for 185,000, and Nathan Tetart responded by going all in as well from his direct left.
Simon Lofberg: Q♥10♥
Nathan Tetart: A♠9♣
Lofberg needed to hit something to survive, and although the flop of J♦3♥9♥ didn't give him a pair, it provided him with plenty of outs. The K♠ on the turn was one of them, and the J♥ on the river completed his flush, securing an important double up.
There were around 470,000 chips in the middle on K♥J♥4♥7♦. Johan Eklind from the small blind checked his option to the big blind Carl Falk who checked behind.
Eklind led when the 7♥ hit the river for 130,000 and Falk was in the tank with his jumper over his mouth.
After a few minutes Falk decided to call but was shown the nuts as Eklind tabled A♥7♣. This pot took Eklind's stack to over 1,000,000.
Mikalai Ihnatovich opened from under the gun to 30,000. Parker Talbot moved all in for 125,000 from the hijack. Cyril Mira in the cutoff then moved all in over the top. He had both players covered but Ihnatovich made the fold.
Parker Talbot: A♣3♣
Cyril Mira: A♠Q♥
Talbot needed clubs and found one on the K♣8♥Q♠ flop. Mira made second pair on the flop and another club was found on the 2♣ turn. The board pairing 2♦ gave Mira two pair and eliminated Talbot from the tournament.
