Tajiou's Kings Hold Up, Iwanov-Petkin's Prediction Comes True

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Mounir Tajiou
Mounir Tajiou

Mounir Tajiou had his stack of 12,400 in the middle preflop and was at risk to Pasi Sormunen. Dimitar Iwanov-Petkin had a decision to make having already put in a few chips and said "I will fold the winning hand," then laid down pocket jacks.

Mounir Tajiou: KK All in
Pasi Sormunen: Q10

"I didn't expect you to be that strong," said Sormumen.

Tajiou was well ahead with his pocket kings, but it seemed that Iwanov-Petkiv was correct when he said that he'd fold the winning hand as the A6J flop would have given him a set. The 27 runout didn't change anything, and Tajiou doubled up his stack.

Luka Sorainen opened to 1,100 from middle position and Alexander Ivarsson three-bet the button to 3,500. When the action got back to Sorainen, he called.

They both saw a flop of 1095 where Sorainen check-called a bet of 3,500 from Ivarsson to the K turn, which went check-check.

A 3 filled out the board and Sorainen moved all-in for 16,400. Ivarsson didn't react for a while then eventually asked for a count, and upon receiving it, went into deep thought with his stack of around 20,000. Around 90 more seconds went by when Ivarsson made the call, which put Sorainen at risk.

Sorainen then stood up and tabled AQ, and Ivarsson revealed JJ for the winner.

"Worst River in World" for Schneiders as Ivanov Makes Quads

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante
Felix Schneiders
Felix Schneiders

Felix Schneiders raised to 1,000 from the hijack. Fintan Hand, who had chipped back up considerably after being down to less than 15,000, called on the button, and Lyudmil Ivanov called in the big blind.

The flop paired when it ran out A10A and Ivanov checked. Schneiders made it 800 to go, which both Hand and Ivanov called. The turn was the 7 and Ivanov checked again. Schneiders sized up to 6,500, almost a pot sized bet. Hand folded and Ivanov called.

The river came the A and Ivanov checked. "Worst river in the world," said Schneiders as he checked behind to showdown.

Schneiders had 77 for a full house, while Ivanov flipped over AJ for quad aces to win the pot.

It was indeed a bad river for Schneiders, but he saved himself from elimination by checking back the river.

Yauheni Tsiareshchanka
Yauheni Tsiareshchanka

The action was picked up on a flop of 410J and Gab Yong Kim betting 2,300 from the button into two opponents. Sachin Joshi folded from the small blind, but Yauheni Tsiareshchanka called from early position.

After Tsiareshchanka checked the 7 river, Kim bet 11,000 which was enough to put Tsiareshchanka all in. Tsiareshchanka called and the cards were revealed.

Yauheni Tsiareshchanka: 109 All in
Gab Yong Kim: K9

Tsiareshchanka was ahead with second pair but Kim had a lot of outs he could hit to win. However, the 2 was clean for Tsiareshchanka, and he doubled up.

Iwanov-Petkin Finds a Lucky Turn

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Dimitar Iwanov-Petkin
Dimitar Iwanov-Petkin

One of the players from Table 18 filled in the gaps for PokerNews in a hand that saw Dimitar Iwanov-Petkin spike a two-outer to remain in the tournament.

There were around 3,000 chips in the pot on a flop of 2x4x7x when Mounir Tajiou checked and Dimitar Iwanov-Petkin fired 1,500. Tobias Garp then raised to 5,500, and Tajiou called. Iwanov-Petkin then shoved his stack of 13,000 into the middle, which Garp called.

"My hand can't be good," said Tajiou, and he folded.

Dimitar Iwanov-Petkin: 1010 All in
Tobias Garp: 22

Garp had flopped bottom set and just needed to fade the two remaining tens in the deck to score an elimination, while Iwanov-Petkin was on the brink of the rail.

"One time!" said Iwanov-Petkin. Just then, the dealer turned over the 10, which gave Iwanov-Petkin the lead with a set of tens. Garp was down to just one out, but didn't find it on the 4 river, which meant Iwanov-Petkin doubled up.

"Yessssssss!" shouted Iwanov-Petkin.
