Nikita Kuznetsov opened the hijack and Alessandro Pichierri shoved his very short stack of just a few big blinds into the middle. When it got back to Kuznetsov, he put in the extra.
Alessandro Pichierri: A♥Q♣
Nikita Kuznetsov: 9♣8♣
Pichierri was in the lead, but fell deep into a hole on the 9♠K♦8♠ flop as Kuznetsov made two pair. A 3♥ on the turn sealed Pichierri's fate, and the meaningless 7♣ filled out the board.
Gianfranco Iaculli's tournament life unraveled in dramatic fashion, starting with a costly clash against Pascal Vos. With about 85,000 in the middle and the board showing 9♦4♠9♣K♠, Vos, sitting in the big blind, checked to Iaculli, who bet. Vos responded with a raise to 85,000, which Iaculli called.
The A♠ landed on the river, and Vos moved all in for 280,000. Iaculli snap-called, revealing A♥7♣ for two pair, aces and nines. However, Vos turned over 5♠2♠ for a surprising flush, leaving Iaculli with just 5,000 chips.
In the very next hand, Gal Bar opened to 30,000 from middle position. Iaculli, with no choice but to go all in for his last 5,000, tossed in his chip. Paul Runcan, sitting on the button, three-bet to 85,000, prompting Bar to fold and leaving Iaculli to face Runcan in a heads-up showdown.
Gianfranco Iaculli: 5♣5♥
Paul Runcan: A♦K♠
Iaculli had a slight edge preflop, but the K♥7♣7♥ flop all but sealed his fate as Runcan paired his king. The Q♣ turn and 10♠ river confirmed the inevitable, sending Iaculli out in 52nd place after a rapid descent.
Philip Joyce opened the button and Sylwia Studniarz three-bet to 100,000 from the small blind. After the big blind folded, Joyce shoved for around 300,000, and Studniarz quickly called.
Philip Joyce: 9♠9♥
Sylwia Studniarz: 10♠10♣
Joyce was already on his feet in preparation for his departure before the flop of 5♣K♥3♥ was even dealt. A 10♦ on the turn meant there was no way back for Joyce, as Studniarz improved to an unbeatable set. An inconsequential A♠ on the river confirmed Joyce's exit, and Studniarz' stack climbed to 1,700,000.
Sylwia Studniarz made it 35,000 to go from the small blind and Alexis Andre three-bet to 120,000 from the big blind. Studniarz took a moment before she shoved, and Andre snap-called for his stack of around 800,000.
Alexis Andre: Q♥Q♦
Sylwia Studniarz: A♥10♣
Andre was in a great spot to double up, and his situation improved on the 8♥4♥Q♣ flop as he made top set. Studniarz seemed destined to lose a chunk of her stack, but the J♥ on the turn opened up a world of outs for her as she picked up both straight & flush draws. A collective gasp was heard when the 9♠ hit the river as Studniarz improved to a straight, which ended Andre's run in the Main Event.
Can anybody stop Studniarz? She's on fire right now.
A classic flip unfolded when Kevin Fernandez Ferrer shoved his stack of roughly 185,000 and was called by Florian Ribouchon, who had him well covered.
Kevin Fernandez Ferrer: Q♣Q♥
Florian Ribouchon: A♦K♣
Ferrer held the lead preflop, hoping his queens would hold as his tournament life hung in the balance. However, the board came 7♥A♠3♥K♥A♣, delivering Ribouchon a dominant full house. The hand sent Ferrer to the rail while Ribouchon stacked up a healthier pile of chips.
Conor Bergin opened the button and then called the shove of Nikita Kuznetsov in the big blind, who had around 175,000 in his stack.
Nikita Kuznetsov: A♠Q♠
Conor Bergin: J♥10♥
Kuznetsov was well in the lead and remained there after the 7♦10♠A♥ flop paired both players. A 6♠ on the turn removed some of Bergin's outs, but the 10♦ river gave Bergin trips, which ended Kuznetsov's run.
Thomas de Rooij opened to 40,000 from middle position and Alexander Sokolovsky called in the hijack.
The two saw a flop of J♣6♦Q♥ where De Rooij made a continuation-bet of 60,000, and Sokolovsky called.
When the 4♠ dropped on the turn, De Rooij continued to show aggression and fired out 180,000, and again Sokolovsky made the call.
A Q♠ on the river paired the board, which saw De Rooij slow down with a check. Sokolovsky then shoved, which put De Rooij to the test for his remaining stack of around 400,000. All of De Rooij's timebanks went into the middle while he mulled it over, and after burning through just one, he called.
Sokolovsky then showed a full house with J♦J♠, and De Rooij flipped K♦K♣ then made his way to the exit.
Kenny Burke opened the action with a raise to 40,000 from the cutoff. On the button, Jeremie Zouari moved all in for 210,000. In the big blind, Vincent Meli asked for a count before shoving his larger stack of around 650,000. The action returned to Burke, who folded after a brief pause, noting he would have called if not for Meli's all-in.
Jeremie Zouari: 9♠9♦
Vincent Meli: K♦K♦
The board ran out 8♣A♦J♠5♣10♠, offering no help to Zouari. Meli's kings held strong, eliminating Zouari.
