Kodinov Finds a King to Slow Down Vandyshev
Level 17
: Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Heads-up on a board of 4♠2♣6♠K♣, Aleksei Vandyshev bet 35,000 from the hijack before Atanas Kodinov moved all in for 128,000 in middle position. Vandyshev called with Q♥Q♠, but Kodinov had K♦Q♦ for a turned pair of kings.
The river was the 2♥ and Kodinov secured the double up. "You can't win every hand," he said to Vandyshev after the hand.
At another table, Yael Pilo Raz picked up two kings against Joachim Meisolle's queens and improved to top set on the flop. "You mean I can still win the tournament?" Meisolle joked as a count showed he barely had Raz's 370,000 covered.
"If I win the tournament now, then I'm a genius," Meisolle added, but his hopes were quickly dashed as he lost his last 12,000 the next hand.
