Senhaji Shows His Cards and Gets a Penalty
Pasi Laihinen raised to 50,000 under the gun and Mehdi Senhaji called in the hijack.
The flop came 8♦3♥2♥ and Laihinen bet 75,000. Senhaji then raised to 150,000, and Laihinen called.
Both players checked the 10♥ turn. Laihinen then led out for 275,000 on the 4♥ river, and here is where controversy erupted.
Senhaji turned over his 8♠8♥ as he tried to get a reaction from Laihinen. "I'm just thinking. I'm not raising," Senhaji said.
"What's going on?" Laihinen asked as a tournament official was called over to the table. The hand was allowed to proceed, and Senhaji ended up burning through multiple time banks and taking a few minutes before folding his set.
Senhaji was then given a chip penalty for exposing his hand, one orbit worth of blinds and antes being taken from his stack.
