Dohyeok Kim opened to 8,000 in the hijack. It folded to Toni Kaukua in the big blind, who pushed in his last 39,000. Kim debated his options for a bit before he called.

Kaukua paired his ace on the A♣4♥4♣ flop, leaving Kim drawing dead after the 6♣ turn. The 3♠ river was rendered meaningless as Kaukua had already booked his double-up.
Gerard Carbo raised to 8,000 from middle position and Ankit Ahuja was the only caller from the cutoff.
Carbo bet 12,000 on the A♣5♦Q♠ flop, then 35,000 on the 2♣ turn, and finally fired a third barrel of 77,000 when the 4♣ completed the board.
Ahuja called all three streets and was shown the bad news as Carbo revealed 4♦4♠ for a rivered set of fours to take down the big pot.
Arriving on the 2♥9♦4♠3♥7♦ river, big blind Jonas ten Cate pushed an overbet of 91,000 into a pot of around 75,000. Andrea Dato spent a few moments in the tank before he slammed in a call under the gun.
Ten Cate tabled A♥5♥ for a straight, seeing Dato muck his cards in defeat.
Tomasz Brzezinski's stack of around 55,000 found its way into the middle from the small blind, with Nicholas Seward trying to bust him from the big blind.

Brzezinski was in front with two kings, but Seward spiked an ace on the A♠8♦6♠ flop to take the lead.
Seward improved further to two pair on the 9♦ turn, and faded Brzezinski's two-outer when the 5♣ completed the board.
Brzezinski wished the table good luck as he ventured toward the exit.
Gary Fisher raised to 6,500 in the cutoff, which only Denis Titenski called in the big blind.
Titenski check-called a bet of 8,500 on a 7♣J♥J♣ flop, and check-called another on the A♥ turn, this time for 22,500. When the 5♠ completed the board and Titenski checked a third time, Fisher wisely checked behind. Titenski tabled J♠10♦ for flopped trips, and Fisher mucked his hand.
Davide Marchi raised from the hijack and Gilles Simon called from the big blind.
Simon check-called bets from Marchi on all three streets through the 3♦A♥J♦K♦8♠ runout. The first was for 3,500 on the flop, followed by 10,000 on the turn and finally 28,000 on the river.
Marchi turned over 8♦8♣ for a rivered set, much to the surprise of Simon, who claimed he had two pair.
As Marchi was pulling in the pot, Parker Talbot commented.
"That river and he only bet 28?" Talbot asked Simon.
Simon nodded, prompting Talbot to deliver his opinion: "That's an Italian river bet right there."
Andrey Andreev raised under the gun to 5,500 and Mihai Niste shoved from the next seat for 20,500. Andrija Cvetkovic made it 35,500 from the cutoff, and Andreev called.
With Niste all in, both players checked the Q♣Q♥K♣ flop to see the 3♥ turn. Andreev bet 20,000, which Cvetkovic called.
The 4♠ river brought a bet of 40,000 from Andreev, and another call from Cvetkovic.
Andreev showed K♠Q♦ for a boat to win both the main and side pots, eliminating Niste, who revealed J♣J♠, while Cvetkovic showed A♦K♥ for top pair.
Cesar Veroez raised to 4,000 from early position and David Djian called from the next seat. Vito Recchimurzo squeezed to 15,000 from the hijack, and Veroez four-bet to 40,000 when the action got back to him. Djian folded, but Recchimurzo five-bet jammed for about 70,000. Veroez stuck in the call.

Both held premium pocket pairs, although it was Recchimurzo who needed to find another lady, or he would be forced to leave the tournament area.
He found no assistance on the 4♣J♥10♣7♦9♦ board, and Veroez's cowboys held up to send Recchimurzo to the exit.

Players from all over the world traveled to Spain to play, with 79 countries and every continent represented. Italy provided the most players with 149, while France followed with 141. The host country of Spain delivered 88 entrants, while 68 players from the United States made the transatlantic journey to play in the EPT Barcelona Main Event.

O'Connor checked the J♣6♣J♠ flop, and Jarry bet 3,000. O'Connor check-raised to 11,000, which Jarry called.
The A♠ on the turn didn't sway O'Connor, as he fired for 21,000. Jarry called.
The 3♥ completed the board, and O'Connor announced a bet of 53,000. Jarry had to burn through a time bank before sliding in the call.
