Selbst Can't Beat Kings

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} on the table, Angel Guillen bet out 16,400 from the small blind. Guillen's only opponent was Vanessa Selbst who acted from the button. Selbst, who played the Super High Roller earlier this week and had a big cooler against Dan Shak in there to bust, thought about it for a little bit. Selbst eventually called, but she had to muck after Guillen showed {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}.

"Good hand" said Selbst while she counted her 22,000 stack. Guillen is up to 78,000.

Visser Pays Off Grishin

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Ruben Visser
Ruben Visser

The player under the gun opened for 700, and Ruben Visser made the call in the hijack. Russian player Dmitry Grishin, who made a deep run in the Live Events International Cyprus event we reported just two weeks ago on, called from the big blind.

On {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades} action checked to Visser who bet 1,300. Grishin called, the initial raiser folded.

Both players checked the {3-Diamonds} on the turn, and so the {9-Hearts} on the river was for free. Grishin bet out big with 7,000, and Visser made the call after some thinking.

Grishin showed {9-Spades}{7-Spades} and Visser mucked.

Play folded back to Muehloecker, and he reraised to 12,500. Nuutinen had 36,400 behind and moved all in for 41,400 total. Muehloecker called with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, but was dominated by Nuutinen's {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, and Nuutinen successfully doubled through Muehloecker.

"Back to back? He's starting good"

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Dan Shak opened the button for 800, and Sven Reichardt three bet to 2,400 from the small blind. Thomas Muehloecker in the big blind cold four bet to 4,500 and action was back on Shak. The American High Roller, who cashed €138,600 for his 8th place finish in the €50,000 Super High Roller earlier this festival, five bet to 15,000. Reichardt folded, but Muehloecker made the call after some thinking.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Muehloecker checked to Shak. The dealer thought Shak checked behind and was ready to burn and turn, but Shak had announced all in and reminded the dealer of that. Muehloecker called instantly by putting in some 100 chips. "Ace king?" he asked while turning over {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}. It was no ace king for Shak, he had just {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and needed to improve.

The {7-Clubs} on the turn and {J-Hearts} on the river were blanks, and after a little bit of counting, it was clear that Muehloecker had Shak covered.

"You didn't like the flop huh?" said Shak, "No, not too much" answered Muehloecker with a small smile.

"Back to back?" laughed table mate Govert Metaal, "He's starting good!"

Nitsche Flushes Liang

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

From middle position, Jiajie Liang raised to 600. Ruben Visser called from the cutoff seat, Jack Salter called on the button, and then Dominik Nitsche reraised to 3,200 from the small blind. After the big blind folded, Liang fired back with a reraise to 6,400. Visser and Salter folded, but Nitsche called to take a flop.

Out of position, Nitsche checked the {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop. Liang checked behind, and the turn was the {2-Hearts}. Nitsche checked, Liang bet 7,400, and Nitsche called.

The river card was the {6-Hearts}, and Nitsche checked. Liang bet 12,700, and Nitsche called.

Liang showed the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for two pair, queens and sixes, but Nitsche's {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for a backdoor flush was the winning hand.
