Re-Vamped

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
David Vamplew
David Vamplew

David Vamplew started off today with only 20 big blinds, but the first level or so has been going swimmingly for the former EPT London winner. Vamplew just eliminated Miguel Riera after all the chips went in on a {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop.

Vamplew held {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} against Riera's {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and the {4-Clubs} turn and {8-Hearts} river made no difference to the board.

Moreira de Melo's Moving Up

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

PokerStars SportStar Fatima Moreira de Melo's been on a tear so far on Day 3 and currently she's sitting on 224,500 chips after busting out Kristoffer Edberg on the secondary featured table.

After unknown preflop action it was Edberg who was at risk for 60,300 chips and the showdown went as following.

Edberg: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Moreira de Melo: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

The flop brought {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Edberg picked up a flush draw to make things more interesting. On the turn the {10-Hearts} popped up giving Edberg a straight draw as well, but the river was the {5-Spades} knocking the Swede out before the money.

Moreira de Melo started the day with just 40,000 chips but as of right now she's in gerat shape for a very deep run.

Misclicks and Pot Odds

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Alexander Trevallion was on the button and made an unusually large raise of 16,000, It folded to big blind Samuel Gilbert who chuckled and threw in his cards. Trevallion laughed and admitted it was a “misclick” mistake. Gilbert for his turn admitted that in Day 1 he had thrown in two blue T5000 chips by mistake. Both were relieved not to get called.

Gilbert had to be a lot more focused a few hands later when he found himself in a pot against Robert Kuhn who had called in the big blind. The flop was {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Kuhn had led for 18,000. Gilbert raised him to 35,000 and Kuhn had responded with an all-in.

Gilbert got the count of 107,000 and started to do the maths as he had around 100,000 left behind. The odds looked tempting but he took his time as Kuhn sat giving nothing away. As much as it seemed to pain him to do it, Gilbert did in the end fold and kept himself in the tournament.

Moreira De Melo Makes the Call

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

The final board was {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Hearts} and with 30,000 in the pot Marko Neumann had made a bet of 14,500. Team PokerStars SportStar Fatima Moreira de Melo was in the big blind and the action was on her. After a couple of minutes thought she puit out the call and Neumann had to turn over his bluff {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and de Melo’s {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} was good for a crucial pot.

“Slow roll.” joked a player not in the hand. “Good call.” de Melo insisted.

From one of the shortest stacks remaining in the tournament de Melo is now on a charge.

Gale Force Warning Subsides

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

John Gale was crippled when he lost a huge pot with {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} to Pablo Gordillo's {K-Hearts}{7-Spades} when the board came {7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{A-Clubs} with all the money going in on the flop.

Gale's remaining chips went in preflop in a three-way pot with Kamal Choraria and Jareth East. East bet Choraria out of the pot on the river of a {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs} board and promptly turned over {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for quads. Gale flashed {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and wished everyone luck before leaving the table.
