Selbst: "This is one of the weirdest hands I've ever played"

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Vanessa Selbst (seen here in the €25,000 High Roller)
Vanessa Selbst (seen here in the €25,000 High Roller)

Ilkin Amirov opened under the gun and Vanessa Selbst made the call on the button. Mustapha Kanit called from the big blind.

The flop came {J-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and Kanit checked. Selbst asked if Amirov had checked as well, and got a confirmative answer from the dealer. She then bet 3,400, and when the dealer looked, all of the sudden Amirov had 4,600 in front of him. Kanit folded already, but now there was some confusion as to what had happened.

It turned out that Amirov hadn't checked yet, and wanted to bet. Floor Kate Badurek was called over and consulted with tournament director Toby Stone to make a ruling.

Before they got back, rail bird Carlos Chadha was already making his own ruling. He said that Amirov's bet didn't stand as Selbst's bet was first. Chadha then said that it sucked for Amirov as he wouldn't have the option to bluf cheap anymore. He followed that up with a comment about being able to check raise. Mustapha Kanit joined in and said Amirov could just check call, "and hit the turn like a boss."

Selbst was laughing at first, but on a more serious note she asked them to stop discussing lines Amirov could take.

Toby Stone got over, double checked with the dealer what had happened, and ruled that Amirov's bet didn't stand, but Selbst's bet did. The dealer mistake made Amirov check, though that clearly wasn't his intention.

Amirov agreed with the ruling, saying he now had more information anyway. He called the 3,400 bet, but check folded to Selbst's 8,500 bet on the {7-Diamonds} turn.

"This is one of the weirdest hands I've ever played" Selbst said while raking in the pot.

McLaughlin gave it some thought before four-betting to 17,200 and now it was Lunkin who went into the tank.

After a while Lunkin moved all in for right around 85,000 and McLaughlin folded immediately.

Carey Sends One Packing

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The flop showed {3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} when we saw Owain Carey make a bet after which his opponent moved all in for right around 45,000 chips. Carey eventually made the call and his opponent angrily showed {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

Carey was ahead with {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and the board ran out {Q-Spades}, {2-Diamonds}. The Brit took down this pot and he's now one of the big stacks in the room.

Van Hoof Sets up Quoss

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Jorryt van Hoof
Jorryt van Hoof

Davidi Kitai raised under the gun to 2,000 and Jorryt van Hoof called under the gun plus two. The action folded to Fabian Quoss and he three-bet to 7,000 from the button. Both blinds folded, as did Kitai, and Van Hoof made the call.

The flop brought out {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Van Hoof check-called 6,5000.

On the turn the {2-Hearts} hit and Van Hoof checked again. This time Quoss bet 13,000 and the Dutchman called once more.

The board was completed on the river wit the {7-Hearts} and Van Hoof checked a third time. This time Quoss checked too and Van Hoof quickly tabled {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for a set of eights.

Quoss didn't fall for the trap, but he still lost quite some chips to Van Hoof who's up and over six-figures.

Tsoukernik Doubles Reixach

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Leon Tsoukernik limped in and his neighbor Sergi Reixach raised it up to 7,000 with just about that behind. Action folded back to Tsoukernik and he called. "I have a hand I never fold" Tsoukernik said.

The flop came {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and Tsoukernik shoved all in. Reixach beat him in the pot.

Tsoukernik showed {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, Reixach had {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. The {6-Clubs} on the turn and {3-Spades} on the turn didn't change the outcome as Reixach doubled.
