Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

EPT London winner Ruben Visser's seated to the direct left of Team PokerStars Pro Theo Jorgensen on Day 2, but we just saw him lose some chips against the player in seat 9, Antonin Duda.

The flop showed {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades} when Visser bet 2,600 and Duda made the call from the button.

On the turn the {A-Diamonds} hit and Visser bet 4,400 after which Duda went into the tank. About 45 seconds later Duda raised it up to 17,100 and Visser threw his cards into the muck.

Some Chips for Wigg

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Anton Wigg was the initial preflop aggressor and made a continuation bet of 2,800 on the {2-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} flop. Joseph El Khoury check-called out of the blinds and the {7-Clubs} turn was checked through. On the {6-Diamonds} river, El Khoury bet 4,200 and Wigg called by tossing in a blue T-5,000 chip.

The Lebanese showed {J-Clubs} {10-Spades} for a busted straight draw and Wigg took down the pot with {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}.

Rettenmaier Eliminated

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Diego Zeiter opened from early position and action folded to Marvin Rettenmaier in the small blind. Rettenmaier three bet to 6,500. Zeiter four bet to 14,000 and Rettenmaier shoved all in. Zeiter did a double check of his cards and called right after.

Diego Zeiter: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Marvin Rettenmaier: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Rettenmaier's and Zeiter's chips were counted. It turned out Zeiter had about 10,000 more than Rettenmaier, and the German super star made his exit.

The Flop Gives It and the River Takes it Away

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Viktor Lavi raised from the button to 2,000 and Mike Watson three-bet from the small blind to 5,000. The big blind folded and Lavi moved all in for 14,700 and Watson made the call.

Lavi: {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Watson: {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop brought {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Watson hit a pair to take the lead in this hand. On the turn the {K-Hearts} hit to give Watson two pair, but it also opened up a flush draw for Lavi. The river was the {6-Hearts} and with four hearts on the board Lavi hit his flush. Watson was left behind with 9,000 chips.

Van Hoof Eliminated

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Jorryt van Hoof
Jorryt van Hoof

Jorryt van Hoof started out short today with just 15,100 in chips. He lost most of those in the first hand of the day.

Van Hoof told us that Ayaz Manji opened from middle position and Brazilian Elcio Luiz Romao made the call on the button. Van Hoof over called from the big blind with {J-}{8-} and a flop of {8-}{2-}{3-} with two diamonds appeared. Van Hoof checked and Manji made a bet of 3,600. Romao shoved all in and Van Hoof did the same. Romao folded.

Van Hoof told us he was up against {8-}{5-} but his opponent would win the hand. Romao was somewhat irritated by Van Hoof telling us the hand, thinking the Dutchman told it like it was a bad beat. Van Hoof in fact wasn't phased by the hand at all and was still smiling, despite the fact he only had 2,300 left after the hand.

Those few chips he lost not much later. The Dutch WSOP November Niner shoved his last couple of blinds in with {Q-}{8-} and got called by Michaĺ Starzec in the big blind with {Q-}{4-}. The flop came eight-high but Starzec made runner runner flush to send Van Hoof to the rail.

Soika and Botond Among early Casualties

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

The two biggest names of the below list to fall early on were likely Balazs Botond and Ihar Soika. Besides that, Tom Hall also ran out of chips.

Early Double for Drinan

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Action folded to Connor Drinan, who finished runner-up in the EPT €25,000 High Roller last week, and he raised to 1,700 from the button. Sergio Aido then three-bet to 5,600 from the small blind, the player in the big folded, and Drinan hit the tank for nearly two minutes before moving all in for 24,900. Aido didn't seem excited about it, but made the call nonetheless.

Drinan: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Aido: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Aido had some kicker issues, and they didn't get resolved on the {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Flop. The {Q-Clubs} turn gave him some gutshot outs, but the {4-Diamonds} river proved safe for Drinan to give him a welcomed double.

Bad Start for the Day 1b Chip Leader

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Max Silver
Max Silver

Max Silver was the Day 1b chip leader, which put him second in chips at the start of the day (he was behind Day 1a chip leader Evangelos Tsairis). Unfortunately for the man from the UK, his Day 2 has gotten off to a rocky start.

In a recent hand, we happened upon the action on the river with a board reading {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. There was approximately 34,000 already pulled into the pot, and Bram Haenraets had his last 24,000 out in front of him in the big blind. Silver, who was on the button, was contemplating what to do. After a decent amount of time had ticked off the clock, Silver dropped in a call holding the {10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for a rivered pair. It was no good though as Haenraets held a flush with the {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Hulme Runs with Queens into Aces

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Nir Levy confirmed that Andrew Hulme has been running with pocket queens into the pocket aces of Alan-James Brincat to bow out early. Levy himself is off to a good start as well after winning a four-bet pot with {A-} {K-} against Govert Metaal. Levy check-called a bet on a king-high flop before both the turn and river were checked down and the king with ace kicker was good.
