Montury Takes the Chip Lead from Holz

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Fedor Holz raised to 85,000 from the button and was met by a three-bet to 210,000 by Jean Montury in the big blind. Holz pushed back with a four-bet to 510,000, Montury called, and then both players checked the {q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop as well as the {5-Diamonds} turn.

When the {A-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Montury checked for a third time and Holz bet 530,000. Montury made the call, and he Holz insta-mucked. That meant Montury took down the pot without even showing his hand. With that, we have a new chip leader.

Ensan Wins Huge Pot Without Showdown

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Fedor Holz opened to 85,000 from under the gun and was called by Hossein Ensan in the cutoff before Remi Wyrzykiewicz squeezed to 335,000 out of the big blind. Only Ensan called and the German proceeded to call a barrel worth 305,000 on the {K-Spades} {3-Hearts} {3-Spades} flop and did so again for 485,000 on the {Q-Spades} turn.

The [Kd[ river slowed down Wyrzykiewicz and he checked, letting Ensan make a bet worth 625,000. The Pole threw his cards into the muck and Ensan is now second in chips.

Robin Ylitalo - 14th Place
Robin Ylitalo - 14th Place

Robin Ylitalo stole the blinds once and then moved all in again for around 260,000 in chips from early position. The action reached to Julien Duveau in the big blind and he quickly called. "Too quick," Ylitalo added and turned over his {A-Hearts} {10-Spades}.

The Frenchman was ahead with {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} and the board ran out {A-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {6-Hearts} to eliminate the EPT10 London champion in 14th place for a payday of €40,100.

Check-Raise from Moolhuizen

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Stefan Schillhabel had gotten away with two three-bets to increase his stack and take over the lead on the outer table. In the last hand of the level, the German opened to 65,000 and was called by Bart Kuiper as well as Mateusz Moolhuizen in the big blind. On a flop of {4-Spades} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts}, Moolhuizen check-raised from 105,000 to 255,000 and Schillhabel forfeited his continuation bet.

Ylitalo Bluffs Away Stack

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Valentin Messina opened to 75,000 from the small blind and Robin Ylitalo called out of the big blind while enjoying a massage. On the {8-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} flop, Messina continued for 65,000 and was called before the Frenchman checked the {3-Diamonds} on the turn.

Ylitalo bet 135,000 and the Frenchman carefully counted his stack before making the call. The {4-Spades} river paired and the board and Messina checked for the second time in a row. Ylitalo moved all in and was snap-called by Messina, who flashed over his {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. The EPT10 London champion was caught bluffing with {J-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and dropped down to less than five big blinds for the next level.

Happy Birthday All the Duda Day

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Fedor Holz opened for 65,000 under the gun and Antonin Duda called Dominik Panka, who is celebrating his birthday today, proceeded to move all in from the button for 488,000, the blinds both folded, and Holz released. Duda opted to make the call and the cards were turned up.

Duda: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Panka: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Panka was looking to dodge an eight or other such tomfoolery, which is exactly what he did after the board ran out a clean {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Ship the double to the birthday boy!

Sergio Aido
Sergio Aido

Sergio Aido will not be Spain's first ever EPT champion here in Malta after a cooler cost him his tournament life.

He was down to 967,000 when he committed his stack preflop with {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} but ran into Jean Montury and his {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}. The board ran {j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs}.
