Roumeliotis Doubles

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Feared high stakes player Alexander Roumeliotis has just doubled through his neighbor Vyacheslav Stoyanov. The two of them got it in before the flop with {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for Stoyanov and {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} for Roumeliotis.

The {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} gave Stoyanov a couple more outs, but the {K-Diamonds} on the return reduced that number again. The {J-Spades} on the river hit Stoyanov with trips but it wasn't good enough as Roumeliotis made his full house.

Berent Doubles Two Opponents in Quick Succession

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Two players have doubled through Norbert Berent in the space of a few hands to the Polish player drop down to 126,000 in chips.

In the first hand, he and Kai Herold exchanged raises pre flop before both were all in.

Herold would show {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and be in front of Berent’s {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

The flop ran out {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades} to see Herold double to 210,000 in chips.

A few hands later and another raising war pre flop ended with Remi Castaignon committing his last 164,000 pre flop and having Berent call.

Berent would again find himself behind holding {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} against Castaignon’s {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and would fail once again at eliminating a player from the tournament after the board ran out {9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}.

Pietrzak and Sotiropoulos double

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Piotr Pietrzak three-bet shoved for 54,000 chips out of the big blind with {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and was called by Vyacheslav Stoyanov with {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}. The {J-Spades} {5-Clubs} {K-Spades} {8-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} board didn't deliver any surprise.

Only a mere minute later, 2013 runner-up Georgios Sotiropoulos also doubled up to 145,000 with {Q-} {J-} against Anton Bertilsson's {A-Hearts} {4-Spades} on a board of {8-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {8-Clubs}.

Kitai Advert Reaps Rewards

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Davidi Kitai
Davidi Kitai

Davidi Kitai had just lost a smallish pot calling down with ace high and he was involved in the next hand calling a 11,000 open from Suat Uyanik in position. The blinds folded and it was a heads-up pot.

The flop was {4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Uyanik continued for 12,000. Kitai called and the turn card {k-Hearts} peeled off. A bet of 20,000 from Uyanik this time and again Kitai called. On the river {2-Diamonds} Uyanik shoved for his last 67,000 and Kitai looked as if he’d got himself into a spot he didn’t exactly love. Less than a minute passed however before he tossed a single chip in to indicate a call.

Uyanik tabled {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

Kitai showed {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} to bust Uyanik.

Liv Boeree Missing in Action

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree

Liv Boeree's seat was empty and last years runner up Georgios Sotiropoulos had some more chips in front of him. As Sotiropoulos was in a hand, eventually winning again, we asked Robert Schulz to fill us in on the details.

Schulz was kind enough to tell us that Liv Boeree had opened to 10,000 with a stack of around 130,000. Sotiropoulos had made it 26,000 right behind her. Action folded back to Boeree who shoved and Sotiropoulos called.

Boeree had ace-queen and was up against Sotiropoulos's pocket tens. The tens held up and Boeree exited. The British Team PokerStars Pro exited in 118th place, just enough to get the next pay out of €10,740.

Adolfsson Busts to Follet

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

In one of the last few hands before the break, Niclas Adolfsson moved all in from under the gun for his last 15 big blinds and Romain Follet looked him up out of the big blind with {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. Adolfsson, who recently finished runner-up to Alex Goulder at the WPT Prague a few days ago, had a coin flip with {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} but could not hold up on a board of {2-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}.

Komarov Eliminated by Wong

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We arrived at the table with the flop reading {8-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. The action was back on Georgy Komarov in the big blind after Jonathan Wong had led out for 35,000 from the hijack.

Komarov deliberated over his decision for over a minute before announcing all in for just over 100,000 and Wong snap called.

Komarov: {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Wong: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Komarov had run into the flopped set held by Wong and didn’t improve as the {5-Hearts} dropped on the turn. It did give him outs to a flush but it wouldn’t come as the {9-Spades} completed the board improving Wong to a full house.

Szabo Turn Raise Gets There

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Peter Turmezey bet the turn of a board reading {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} putting out 28,000. Zoltan Szabo raised him to 65,000 and Turmezey made the call to see the {k-Spades} come on the river.

Turmezey cautiously checked and Szabo checked behind turning over his {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}. A frustrated Turmezey turned over his {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} to show he had been ahead until that unwelcome last card.
