Small Pots

Level 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick just took down a small pot where he limped the cutoff and took the pot down with a small bet on {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} against a check folding Ivan Soshnikov in the big blind.

The next hand would see Paul Newey open the cutoff for 160,000. Leonid Markin called from the big blind and both players checked the {Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{J-Clubs} flop. Leonid check called a bet of 125,000 after the {9-Hearts} hit the turn, only for both players to check again on the {J-Spades} river. Markin showed {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, Newey mucked.

Let’s Chop It Up

Level 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Juha Helppi started proceedings with a raise to 160,000 from under the gun. He was called by Leonid Markin on the button and the two watched the flop come down {10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{7-Spades}.

Helppi threw out a continuation bet of 200,000 which was called before opting to check the {10-Clubs} on the turn. Markin took the chance to bet out 200,000 after facing the check which was called.

The {10-Diamonds} completed the board and both players quickly checked their options. Helppi tabled his {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a full house before Markin rolled over his {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the same full house.

Taking it Easy

Level 20 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

With Juha Helppi and Ivan Soshkinov rather short, no one is really wanting to take any risk it seems. The spots are small, and mostly raise and take it the last couple of minutes. No big show downs yet.

Chidwick Wins with King-High

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick limped the button and Paul Newey completed from the small blin, Juha Helppi checked his big blind.

Both blinds checked to Chidwick on {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} who bet 105,000. Newey made the call, Helppi folded. Both players continued to check the turn ({Q-Spades}) and river ({7-Hearts}).

Newey was to show first and tabled {9-}{10-} for the missed straight draw. Chidwick rolled over {K-Spades}{6-Hearts} for the winning hand.

Soshnikov Doubles Through Helppi

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

The action folded around to Juha Helppi in the small blind who slid in a giant stack which was enough to cover Ivan Soshnikov in the big blind. He looked down at his cards and snap called for his last 525,000 total before both players tabled their cards.

Soshnikov: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Helppi: {k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

Soshnikov was in great shape to double up and almost guaranteed himself the pot when the flop came down {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. It was all over when the {5-Hearts} fell on the turn improving Soshnikov to a full house as the meaningless {k-Clubs} completed the board.

Vladimir Troyanovskiy Eliminated in 6th Place (€159,170)

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Vladimir Troyanovskiy
Vladimir Troyanovskiy

Still busy stacking the chips he just won, the next hand Leonid Markin was right back at it. Markin opened the button for 120,000 and his neighbor Vladimir Troyanovskiy shoved all in from the small blind for about half a million. Stephen Chidwick folded his big blind, Markin instantly called.

Troyanovskiy let out some frustrating sounding words in Russian as he found out he was up against {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} with his {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. The flop was {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} though and the words sounded a little bit friendlier all of the sudden. The {K-Diamonds} didn't change that but the {J-Spades} on the river did.

Troyanovskiy shook hands with his five opponents and made his way to the exit, earning €159,170 for his sixth place finish. The remaining five players are now guaranteed €208,150.

Markin Wins Big Pot

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick opened to 125,000 from under the gun. The action folded to Leonid Markin on the small blind who raised it up to 275,000 in chips. Vladimir Troyanovskiy was on the big blind and thought about his decision for over a minute before making the call. Chidwick also completed as the three then watched the flop come down {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

Markin paused for a moment before leading out for 275,000 and was called shortly after by Troyanovskiy. Chidwick quickly mucked before the dealer produced the {8-Spades} on the turn.

Markin then reached for his chips and bet out 600,000 which was enough to cover his opponent. Troyanovskiy stared down Markin for several minutes before reluctantly letting go of his hand.

Chidwick Back Doors Into a Flush and Wins a Big One

Juha Helppi grimaces when shown the winning hand

Stephen Chidwick opened the button for just slightly more than a min raise with five 25,000 chips. Paul Newey instantly folded his small blind, Juha Helppi three bet to 360,000 from the big blind. Chidwick made the call. Helppi had won many button versus big blind situations versus Chidwick before, but wasn't going to this time around.

Helppi bet out 375,000 on {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Chidwick made the call. Both players checked the {3-Diamonds} on the turn now and the {6-Diamonds} completed the board.

Helppi checked to Chidwick. The British pro bet out 775,000 with just 850,000 behind. Helppi had a though decision and it took several minutes before he would make one. At one point he cracked a smile, seemingly puzzled about what to do. He then grabbed the 775,000 chips he needed to call and it looked like he was going to shove them forward. He changed his mind though, cracked another smile, and held on to them for a bit. He eventually did shove them forward to call.

Helppi's face would soon display disappointment as he was shown {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for the nuts by Chidwick. Helppi mucked.

Brian Roberts Eliminated in 7th Place (€128,565)

Level 19 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Brian Roberts - 7th Place
Brian Roberts - 7th Place

Paul Newey raised it up to 120,000 from the cut and watched as the action folded around to Brian Roberts on the big blind. He made the call and both watched as the flop came down {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

Roberts thought about his decision for over a minute before sliding out a bet worth 110,000 in chips. Newey then tanked over his decision before placing in a large enough raise to have Roberts covered.

After a quick glance down at his cards, Roberts committed his remaining 580,000 into the pot and both players tabled their cards.

Roberts: {q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Newey: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Roberts had flopped top pair but it was no match against Newey’s over pair. Roberts would find no help as the board ran out the {8-Clubs} and {6-Clubs} to see him being the first player eliminated from the final table.

The remaining six players are all guaranteed at least €159,170 for their efforts.
