Steve O’Dwyer and Ole Schemion Eliminated By Martin Jacobson

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

The action started with Steve O’Dwyer moving all in for his last 98,000 in chips. As soon as Ivan Soshnikov folded his button, Ole Schemion moved all in over the top for 181,000 from the small blind. It took Martin Jacobson only a few seconds to announce call having both players covered.

O’Dwyer: {a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Schemion: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Jacobson: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The dealer spread out the {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop giving Jacobson the commanding lead over his two opponents. The board ran out the {2-Clubs} and {k-Clubs} to see Jacobson improve to a straight as he eliminated a further two players from the event.

Helppi a Millionaire

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel now in need of a double up
Jean-Noel Thorel now in need of a double up

Martin Jacobson opened to 35,000 from the hijack and his neighbor Juha Helppi in the cutoff made the call. Stephen Chidwick thought about it for a little bit, and all of the sudden Jean-Noel Thorel announced "Reraise!" before pushing 191,000 forward. Chidwick knew enough, laughed a bit, and folded. Thorel's three-bet stood and Jacobson moved out of the way.

Helppi wasn't so quick to give up though and thought for a bit. He eventually pushed all in for 588,000 and Thorel snap called.

"Ahh merde!" said Thorel with a quiet voice as he discovered his {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} was in bad shape against Helppi's {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}.

The flop came about as good as they could come for Thorel though: {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Helppi was literally holding his breath as the dealer burned and turned the {9-Spades}. The {4-Diamonds} river followed not much later and Helppi now breathe a sigh of relief.

"You Gonna take all my Chips now"

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Tobias Reinkemeier
Tobias Reinkemeier

After the previous beat for Mustapha Kanit, the Italian flat-called a raise to 35,000 by Tobias Reinkemeier and Brian Roberts as well as Vladimir Troyanovskiy in the blinds tossed in the extra chips as well. On the {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {3-Diamonds} flop, the action was checked to Reinkemeier and he bet 80,000, which was only called by Kanit. On the {8-Hearts} turn, the Italian got his remaining 271,000 chips in with {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} and Reinkemeier looked him up with {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. The {9-Hearts} on the river was a brick and Kanit doubled.

One hand later, Kanit opened to 33,000 from early position and Reinkemeier defended his big blind. On the {9-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {3-Hearts} flop, the German check-called a bet of 36,000 and did so again on the {K-Clubs} turn for 107,000. The {6-Diamonds} on the river triggered another check by Reinkemeier and he then faced a hefty bet of 316,000.

"You gonna take all my chips now?" he asked towards Kanit. Some small talk back and forth followed and Reinekemeier ultimately made the call. Kanit announced a flush and then tabled {8-Clubs} {10-Clubs}, which would take down the pot. Both players have exchanged their roles in the leader board within a matter of 10 minutes.

Thorel Busts in Three-Way Pot

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Juha Helppi raised to 32,000 and was called by Jean-Noel Thorel in the small blind and Leonid Markin in the big blind. On the {J-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {Q-Spades} flop, the action was folded to the Finn and Helppi made a continuation bet of 50,000. Both Thorel and Markin called and the {6-Spades} on the turn saw the instant all in of the Frenchman.

Markin asked for a count and then made the call for 147,000, it took far longer for Helppi to make up his mind. The Finn counted out his total stack carefully and then also called to go three-way to the {4-Clubs} river. Both Markin and Helppi checked and Thorel showed {9-Spades} {8-Hearts} for a busted gut shot and open ended straight draw.

Markin had that beat with {J-Spades} {8-Spades} for middle pair and a flush draw that didn't complete and Helppi turned over {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} with a huge sigh of relief. "Nice hand," Markin said and both players are now almost on the same stack.

Roberts and Troyanovskiy Clash in 2 Million Pot

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Brian Roberts - Vladimir Troyanovskiy
Brian Roberts - Vladimir Troyanovskiy

The action folded to Brian Roberts in the small blind and he raised, Vladimir Trovanovsky in the big blind reraised to 70,000 and then called the squeeze of Roberts to 155,000 in total. On the {2-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop, Roberts made a continuation bet of 115,000 and Troyanovsky called before both checked the {10-Hearts} on the turn.

The dealer burned and turned the {K-Diamonds} river and Roberts announced all in, pushing forward his green 100,000 chips. Troyanovskiy snap-called and tabled {K-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. Roberts only had {K-Hearts} {3-Spades}. The double up for the Russian was for 781,000 on the river and he is now the new chip leader.

Level 14 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Tobias Reinkemeier (seated on the right)

Connor Drinan started proceedings with a raise to 44,000 from under the gun. The action folded round to Vladimir Troyanovskiy in the small blind who then bumped it up to 115,000. Tobias Reinkemeier was on the big blind and went into the tank for almost a minute before announcing all for around 300,000 in chips. Drinan quickly folded and Troyanovskiy made the quick call.

Reinkemeier: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Troyanovskiy: {J-Clubs}{j-Spades}

Reinkemeier was looking in great shape to double up, especially after the first four cards came out {9-Spades}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, the {q-Clubs} spiked on the river giving Troyanovskiy a straight and the best hand.

Andrew Chen Eliminated in 10th Place

Level 15 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Andrew Chen
Andrew Chen

Leonid Markin raised to 60,000 and was called by Andrew Chen in the big blind to see the heads-up flop of {10-Spades} {3-Spades} {2-Spades}. CHen check-folded to a bet of 100,000 by the Russian.

The very next hand, Chen limped from the small blind and Stephen Chidwick tossed in five green T-100,000 chips. Chen was subsequently all in for what looked like 655,000 and Chidwick put the Canadian at risk.

Chidwick: {4-Spades} {4-Diamonds}
Chen: {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

The window card was the {4-Clubs} and the rest of the board ran out {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {8-Spades} to reduce the field to the last nine players. A redraw will now take place and then play resumes until the money is reached.

Kanit All In for 2.5 Big Blinds, Markin Does Not Call

Level 16 : 15,000/30,000, 3,000 ante
Brian Roberts
Brian Roberts

Mustapha Kanit open shoved his remaining 74,000 in before the flop from middle position. Action folded to Leonid Markin in the big blind. Everyone expected him to call as it was just 44,000 more, but he folded.

Brian Roberts, second to last in chips, raised an eyebrow and voiced his concerns with this controversial decision by Markin. The floor came over and Roberts explained that he found it remarkable that Markin folded for just 1.5 big blinds more, though he added that he didn't really think that Markin and Kanit were friends or anything.

The floor didn't hand out any penalties in the end, saying Markin was in his right to fold in the spot. Chidwick in the one seat thought out loud that one of the reasons someone in Markin's spot could fold, would be to be able to keep the pressure on the entire table with a shorty like Kanit still in.

"Anyway guys, I had six-four" said Markin with a kind of puzzled look on his face. The dealer continued to deal and the nine remaining players were off to the next hand.
