Battle of the Blinds

Nhi Bui is the big blind and Lasse Jeppesen is the small. 50,000 chips find their way into the middle and Nhi is in good shape with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} against Lasse's {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}. There are no surprises and Nhi doubles up to 52,000.

Janno Cazemier Triples Up

Christer Laudius opened the pot for 4,000, Frederick Brink Jensen re-raised, and Janno Cazemier moved all in for 31,000. Both Laudius and Jensen called.

Laudius {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Jensen {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Cazemier {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The flop was {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, the turn was the {Q-Spades}, the river was the {J-Clubs}, and Cazemier took it down, eliminating Laudius, and leaving Jensen on life support with only 10,000 remaining in his stack. Jensen was eliminated a few hands later.

Cazemier, our only player in this event hailing from Afghanistan, tripled up on the hand and is sitting on around 90,000.

Sick Call

Allan Baekke
Allan Baekke
There were already 10,000 chips in the middle from pre-flop action. Christina Orth was in the small blind, Allan Baekke was UTG and Tung Huynh was UTG +1.

The flop read {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

It was checked around to Tung who bet 6,000. Christina thought for a short while and folded, but Allan Baekke made the call.

The turn was {6-Clubs} and Allan checked to Tung who then moved all in for 19,200. Allan thought for a while then said: "I am going to make a sick call, I call," and then Tung had his {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} turned over instantly. Allan was drawing dead with {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}.

Tung more than doubled up to 63,000.

Steal, Re-Steal, Re-Re-Steal

If there's any hallmark of the way play has proceeded over the last couple of hours, it's the steal/re-steal. Much of the action is happening pre-flop, with late position raises constantly being re-raised from the button or the blinds by the aggressive Scandinavian players that are dominating the field.

"It's impossible to put in a small raise at my table. Someone will always come over the top!" said a short-stacked Steve Frezer at the last break.

Squeeze?

Patrik Andersson
Patrik Andersson
A big hand was in progress as I passed Lars Madsen's table. There were three players to the flop with 14,000 already in the middle . The cards in the middle were {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The UTg player bet out 7,500 which after a short dwell Lars Madsen called. The player on the button, Patrik Andersson then raised to 20,000. The other two folded sharpish and Patrik rakes in a nice pot.

But Did He Have the Case Ten?

Raymond Landaas opened the pot for 4,000 and Tom Larsen called from the small blind. The flop was {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Larsen checked, Landaas bet 8,000 and Larsen called. The turn was the {7-Spades}. Larsen checked again, and this time, Landaas checked behind. The river was the {10-Spades}. Larsen bet 18,000 and Landaas took the hit and folded. He's still healthy with nearly 60,000 in chips and was left wondering if Larsen did indeed have the case ten.
