Massive Pot Goes to Mercier

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Justin Bonomo knocked out
Justin Bonomo knocked out

Scott Seiver raised to 12,000 and Talal Shakerchi made the call. Justin Bonomo proceeded to call from the small blind and Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier did the same from the big blind.

The flop brought {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and the action was checked to Shakerchi who bet 30,000 and Bonomo called. Mercier called from the big blind and the turn brought the {8-Spades}. Bonomo checked again and Mercier bet 68,000. Shakerchi made the call and Bonomo moved all in for right around 270,000. Mercier moved all in over the top and Shakerchi open-folded {Q-}{10-}.

Mercier: {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Bonomo: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}

The river brought the {6-Diamonds} and Bonomo was knocked out. Mercier has a massive chip lead with not that much time left on the day.

"Very Late, Very Fast"

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Alex Mos entered the event very late but he managed to build a stack very fast. Mos raised to 12,000 under the gun and Faraz Jaka three-bet him to 26,000. The action was folded back around to Mos who made the call.

The flop brought {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Mos checked to Jaka who bet 28,000. Mos check-raised to 85,000 and Jaka made the call. On the turn the {K-Clubs} hit and Mos quickly threw out another 85,000. Jaka tanked for a while and made the call.

On the river the {J-Clubs} hit and Mos immediately went all in for 49,000. Jaka did some more tanking but eventually he made the call. Mos showed {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades} for the flush and that was enough to take it down. Jaka showed {K-Spades}{8-Spades} and he played the board as there were five clubs showing.

"Very late, very fast" Mos said with a smile as he quickly doubled up his stack.

Shak-Attack

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Scott Seiver has suffered his first major set-back of the day after he doubled up Talal Shakerchi in a battle of the blinds.

The action folded to the bearded one in the small blind and he raised only to face a 31,000 three-bet from Shakerchi in the big blind. Seiver four-bet shoved and was snapped off by Shakerchi.

Seiver: {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Shakerchi: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

The board ran {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

"Nice hand," said Seiver as he handed over 338,500 chips.

Tough Fold From Antonius

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Sorel Mizzi raised to 9,000 and Patrik Antonius three-bet from the blinds to 29,000. Mizzi called and the flop brought {10-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{9-Hearts} on which Antonius bet 35,000. Mizzi made the call and the turn brought the {K-Spades}. This time Antonius checked and Mizzi bet 66,000 which was called by the Fin.

On the river the {8-Clubs} hit and Antonius tanked for ages before check-folding to Mizzi's 105,000-chip bet. Antonius didn't look happy at all as he was knocked down to just 155,000.

Kurganov Back in

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Igor Kurganov put up another €100,000 and is back in the race with just over an hour left in the day.

Seiver Turns the Scew

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Three-bet Scott Seiver and you're in trouble. Four-bet him and he'll really come after you.

Seiver opened to 10,000 from the cut-off before Talal Shakerchi three-bet to 28,000 off the button. Justin Bonomo was in the big blind and put in a four-bet to 70,000. Seiver sat and thought for a minute before he shoved. Shakerchi reluctantly folded and Bonomo open-folded {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

No More Kurganov

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Igor Kurganov was lamenting his luck after busting to Dani Stern. He's on the rail with four €25,000 chips in his hand so it's looking very likely he'll be back in the action soon.

The reason why he was frustrated was that play was four-handed when he ran jacks into Stern's ace-king and failed to hold.

No More ElkY

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand Grospellier has been knocked out but we did not managed to get the details. Players are still dropping like flies, but they are still able to buy back in if they want to.

Ivey Out Part 2

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Phil Ivey has just been knocked out again, this time Mike McDonald took his chips. Sorel Mizzi raised to 9,000 and Mike McDonald three-bet to 25,000 from the cutoff. Phil Ivey went all in over the top for right around 70,000. The action was folded back around to McDonald who made the call.

McDonald: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Ivey: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Ivey was knocked out. We are not entirely sure but it sounded like Ivey announced that he would be back later tonight or maybe tomorrow morning.
