Is it Right to Ask to see a Hand?

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

An interesting table-wide discussion broke out at the climax of a hand between Dario Minieri and Mark Teltscher about asking to see an opponent's hand.

The hand itself wasn't that exciting. Teltscher raised to 1,000 off the button and Minieri defended his big blind to see a {7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop appear. There he check-called a 1,100 bet before both players checked the {j-Clubs}{3-Clubs} turn and river down.

"Ace," said Teltscher.

"I'm sorry, can I see? I want to understand the hand," replied Minieri.

Teltscher opened {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and lost out to the Team PokerStars Pro's {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. "I hope you understand the hand now!" said a sharp Teltscher to Minieri.

Minieri didn't think he'd done anything wrong as asked Phil Ivey of his opinion. "I come from cash games ans we don't so that, but I guess they do that now. I'm an old player."

Mike McDonald, Vicky Coren and others agreed with this opinion.
