Griffin Benger, who reportedly "got weird" last weekend after winning the EPT Berlin High Roller, is in the field today, and he is of course rocking his new Shamballa bracelet.
The Canadian, who earned €429,000 for his win, didn't get too weird during the celebration however, because the very next day he shipped two EPT Grand Final packages and finished runner-up in the Super Sized for $30,000.
Prior to EPT Berlin, Benger's largest live cash was for just $50,000. He now has over $850,000 in career live tournament earnings, and is looking to break the one million-dollar threshold here in the beautiful Principality of Monaco.

We're not talking about Ronaldo or Pele but Brazil's poker number one is definitely here! Alex Gomes was just spotted in the tournament room at Piere Neuville's table.
Gomes lead the Brazilian tournament all-time money list by a mile as he's managed to rack up almost $3.5 million in earnings. Gomes won the Bellagio Cup WPT for $1,187,670 in 2009, a WSOP bracelet for $770,540 in 2008 and on top of that he final tabled the PCA in 2009 and the EPT Grand Final in Madrid in 2011.

Griffin Benger is holding court at his table with the confidence of the of a man who may have taken down a title recently. The EPT Berlin High Roller champion battled with Pratyush Buddiga and ended up folding on the river.
Buddiga raised to 300 and went on to bet 400, 1,025, and 2,225 on 
board. Benger, in position, called all the way to the river where he winced when Buddiga fired a third bullet.
Benger eventually open folded 
for two pair.
As the hand was being concluded, EPT London finalist Christopher Frank, joined the table to add to its difficulty.

On Monday, PokerStars announced the schedule for Season 10 of the European Poker Tour. The season will feature a total of eight events, beginning in Barcelona on August 28, 2013 and concluding in Monaco with the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final on April 23.

Robert Haigh came of age last week when he came second at EPT Berlin for a career best score €531,000. He seems to have taken that confidence through to this week although he was put in his place by an opponent.
Sergio Castellucio opened the pot from the cut-off before Micah Raskin three-bet to 1,000 from the small blind. Haigh was in the big blind and four-bet to 2,350. Castellucio came back with a five-bet to 5,100 and that was enough to force both players to fold.

EPT Vilamoura winner Toby Lewis just lost some chips to the current GPI number one, Marvin Rettenmaier. The flop read 
when we picked up the action and Thanh Hai Pham checked from the big blind. Lewis fired out 1,050 from under the gun plus one after which Rettenmaier called from the button. Pham called a well and the turn brought the

Pham checked again on the turn and this time Lewis bet 3,200. Rettenmaier called once more and Pham decided to fold his cards. On the river the 
hit and this time Lewis checked. Rettenmaier fired out 7,250 and immediately Lewis threw his cards towards the muck.
Dan Smith and Jeff Rossiter are also at this table which makes this an entertaining line up already.
