Volpe's River Check-Raise Doesn't Work

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

On the {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} board, Paul Volpe checked to Andrew Pantling, who checked behind to see the {3-Spades} fall on the river. After Volpe checked again, Pantling bet 33,000. Volpe took a few moments, then check-raised to 108,000. Pantling went into the tank.

It is interesting to note that last night, Volpe checked the river on a board with paired aces against Scott Palmer holding the top full house, planning to check-raise. Pantling was strong to the call this time, but Volpe didn't have a full house. He had the {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} instead, and Pantling's {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades} was good.

Sakr Punched

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Pierre Sakr was all in holding with {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} on a flop of {q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, and Dutchman Clyde Tjauw Foe had him at risk with {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

It was nearly over when the {k-Spades} turned (a king on the river would give them identical full houses), and the {6-Clubs} completed the board.

Sakr hit the rail, while Foe now has 240,000 chips.

Time Off in Lew

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Randy "nanonoko" Lew
Randy "nanonoko" Lew

PokerStars Team Online Randy Lew was just looking really good as he was all in for his tournament life with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}. Lew's opponent, Giuseppe Sammartino, held {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} as Lew was trying to double his 90,000-chip stack.

Unfortunately for Lew the board ran out {7-Clubs}{4}{5-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and the online super star was knocked out short of the money.

Salute Your Schwartz

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Alexander Luber was all in for his last 60,000 or so preflop holding {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Noah Schwartz, who has nearly $3 million in career tournament earnings, had him at risk with {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Schwartz held as the board ran out {8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{a-Spades}, eliminating Luber. The American now sits with 545,000 chips.

Keston Finishes the Job

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Vitalijs Tarhanovs and Robin Keston tangled earlier, and just recently, Keston finished the job.

Tarhanovs moved all in on the button with {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, and Keston snapped it off with {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} in the big blind. The flop, turn, and river produced {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and Tarhanovs hit the rail.

Keston recorded the knockout, but after losing a few pots between the pair's previous battle, he's dropped down to 200,000.
