Jairo Diaz Leads Day 1a of ESPT/UKIPT Main Event
It has been a record-breaking day at Day 1a of the Pokerstars ESPT/UKIPT Malaga Main Event at Casino Torrequebrada, Malaga, with an incredible 306 players gracing the felt.
The number of players exceeded expectations so much that the powers that be decided to play an additional level to try and thin the field to avoid a congested Day 2.
Jairo Diaz ended the day as chip leader and will lead the remaining 90 players into Day 2 which will be played on June 14 at 5 p.m. local time.
The French duo of Nicolas Boten and Jordan Sauny are second and third respectfully.
Despite this event being marketed to Spanish, British and Irish poker players, it was Norway who dominated proceedings on Day 1a.
Even Nordbjoern Risloev appeared to be playing every single hand and rocketed up towards 200,000, However his stack has since decreased to 73,500.
Jennifer Steele who won her seat at the Irish Open has been steadily increasing her stack throughout the day and bagged an impressive 140,000.
Pokerstars Ambassador Ben Spragg made Day 2 with 35,000, but his colleagues Barny Boatman and Felix Schneiders failed to bag up today.
