Antonio Saez Zamorano Leads the Final Table of the Golden Poker Million Cyprus Main Event
Andorra's Antonio Saez Zamorano leads the way in the €1 million guaranteed Golden Poker Million Cyrpus €800 Main Event heading into Monday's final table.
Day 3 began with 50 hopefuls battling it out in hopes of advancing to the final day where the winner is slated to be awarded a cool €200,000. All 50 players were guaranteed at least a minimum payout of at least €2,050.
Despite the 90-minute blind levels throughout the day, players were eliminated at a fast and furious pace with ten elimination during the first blind level and another ten following during the second blind level. Originally the day was scheduled for seven blind levels but the final table was reached with 34 minutes remaining during the last blind level when the tournament director called it a day after Spain's Miguel Moreno jack-ten was unable to out-flip Switzerland's Samiyel Duzgun nines.
Russia's Alexey Romanov began the day with the chip lead before giving it over to Zambrano early in the day after he elimination Nuri Yilmaz in 49th place for €2,050 when his big slick held strong against ace-jack. Romanov was able to get the chip lead back before handing it over to Duzgun.
Romanov took the lead back from Duzgun but then Zamorano went on a roll. He first doubled up against Russia's Dmitrii Vitugin when he got paid on the river after his jack-ten completed a straight against his opponent's nines with a potential straight draw completing.
A little luck didn't hurt for Zamorano. Very soon after, Zamorano got it all in with eights and got there on the river to eliminate Vitugin who held aces and Israel's Marco Marco who held sevens. From that point, Zamorano held the lead for the entire day.
Tomorrow's final table will be a deep-stacked affair with the starting average stack north over 65 big blinds. It was also be an international affair with players from eight different countries still in contention.
In addition to Zamorano, other players starting with eight-figure stacks are Duzgun (21,375,000), Russia's Bakhtiev Ruslan (20,300,000), Spain's David Comeron (13,525,000), and Russia's Alexey Romanov (10,825,000). The others on the final table include Iran's Milad Oghabian (8,100,000), Ukraine's Vladyslav Pohribnyi (5,000,000), Israel's Shlomi Shimoni (4,200,000), and Turkey's Seref Dursun Anar (3,650,000).
The final table seat draw will be done near the start of tomorrow's action.
