Different Add-on Strategies

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

While most of the players thus far in the Main Event took their 20,000 chip add-on for €40 as soon as they sat down, some players opted not to.

One such player was Timofei Vekshin who recently lost all his chips. Rather than reenter for €800 for 80,000 in chips like some players have done today and Velkshin still may win up doing, he instead used his add-on and has a 10 big blind stack to try to spin up.

Rivas Excited After Felting Leon

Level 8 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jose Rivas
Jose Rivas

Ercan Olgun bet 9,000 into a pot of around 25,000 with the {2-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{8-Spades} on the flop. Jose Rivas called before Sergio Garcia Leon raised to 30,000. Olgun folded and Rivas called after two minutes in the tank.

Leon bet 107,000 leaving less than 5,000 behind in his stack after the {8-Diamonds} paired the board on the turn. Rivas tanked for about five minutes before he raised. Leon called and turned over {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and was behind the {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} held by Rivas.

Rivas won a massive pot after the {a-Clubs} came on the river and shouted in joy for 15 seconds in Spanish.

Carlos Benefits From a Clock Call

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Hermida Carlos
Hermida Carlos

Jose Rivas in the small blind raised to 7,000 over a limper before Hermida Carlos raised to 17,000. The action folded around to Rivas who went into the tank for around five minutes before the clock was called.

It didn't appear Rivas saw the floor behind him say 30 seconds left to act nor did he react when he was told it was a five second warning.

Time ran out and Rivas looked in genuine surprise when the dealer informed him his hand was dead. Carlos showed he at least had a piece of something as he turned over one card, the {a-Diamonds}.

Hong Eliminates Pombo with Fishhooks

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

A player opened from early position before Bruno Pombo called from the hijack. Jinho Hong three-bet to 12,000. The early position opener called before Pombo jammed for about 67,000.

The action paused on Hong for a minute or two before he made the call and the original opener folded his hand.

Bruno Pombo: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Jinho Hong: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Pombo was behind when all the chips got in the middle and he was never able to catch up with the {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts} running out on the board. There is still time for Pombo to reenter on Day 1a or if he chooses during any of the other four opening flights.
